Intro
This is a sheet of Blue Archive's recommended levels of student skills at common breakpoints, including their minimal recommended level and optimal investment break points.
Investment levels are always dependent on content and whether there is a need for it, the general advice is to only build for what you need for the coming content.
Investment priorities may also change depending on content or whether student has UE 2* or not, please read the note sections for more specific information.
Materials in Blue Archive are one of, if not the most stressed over thing in the game, it is always recommended to refrain from making unnecessary investments and save your materials for another time of need.
Before you decide on investments, please consider what borrows are available to you and if you truly need your own student raised!
At the end of the day, 5 / M / M / M is always the highest point of investment that brings the unit to their full potential, if you don't care about your investment costs, this guide is probably not the most helpful to you.
There are also some other resources included below to help you understand and plan your investments according to content needs, please try them out!
As an additional mentioning, stay away from text-to-speech Blue Archive youtubers that try to introduce new JP units, their info is often just their own opinion and is either wrong or outdated.
How to Read
Skill talents are ordered in the way of: EX / Basic / Passive / Subskill, an example being: 5 / 7+ / M (Max) / 7.
EX skills are capped at 5 and as such, 5 / M / M / M will be the highest investment level.
UE stands for Unique Equipment, which was the unofficial translation for Exclusive Weapon before it's debut in Global.
If there is a + behind the number, it means anything above that level would be nice.
Other Resources
- Stokkie's raid tierlist — Ratings of students for each raid boss and notes to explain how they're used, a very good reference towards a student's potential value for Total Assault.
- Justin's planner — Interactive planner that's easy to use and helps keep track of your current and target investment levels; you can also save team lineups under specific names for reuse.
- Causew's General Raid Guide — Explains Total Assault boss mechanics from Normal to Extreme difficulty, with in-depth explanations and strategies; link to Insane difficulty version included.
- Causew's JP top 10 records — Compilation of JP server's Total Assault top 10 teams and scores; a reference for peak scores and strategies.
- Elaine's Raid Event Banner Order Prediction — Infographic of Total Assaults, Events and Banners to come, with artifacts dropped from each raid/event.
- Schale DB — Database including gear, skill, gift preferences; features like a damage potential calculator and enemy stats by level.
- Midokuni's Student Insights — Includes pull recommendations, uses, team guidance, reroll priority.

How to Read
Skill talents are ordered in the format EX / Basic / Passive / Subskill, for example: 5 / 7+ / M (Max) / 7.
EX skills are capped at 5, so the highest investment level is 5 / M / M / M.
UE stands for Unique Equipment, the unofficial term for Exclusive Weapon used in Global.
A plus sign after a number indicates that anything above that level would be nice to have.
Notes on capacity and costs
- Investment levels are chosen based on what content you intend to tackle next and what you need to clear it.
- UE considerations affect some units at higher difficulties; if you are maximizing for cost efficiency, focus on the content you will engage soon.
Other Resources (summary)
- The listed tools are meant to help you plan and track investments, borrow strategies, and optimize your team composition for Total Assault and related raids.
- The community tools provide guidance on how to read unit potential in different raid contexts, including Grand Assault variants.

Intro Borrow Reference Library Overview
Brief introduction regarding Total Assault (Raids) and Grand Assault (Grand Raids):
- Total Assault — Runs 1 week, has 1 boss and 3 attempts per day, each boss has their dedicated armor types and gimmick.
- Grand Assault — Runs 1 week, has 1 boss but the boss is available in all 3 armor types. Only one of the colors will have the highest difficulty (Torment) available, the rest will have the highest difficulty locked to save you some hair.
If you want a quick reference for what units are preferred as borrows for what raids, this section could be nice starters. Before exploring the next 2 pages, please read the section below.
Glossary
- BiS – Best in Slot
- Pan – Used to refer to team counts; if you clear a raid in 1 team, it's 1 pan.
- LUNA – Lunatic difficulty, highest difficulty available with additional mechanics
- TMT – Torment difficulty, second highest difficulty with additional mechanics/layout
- INS – Insane difficulty, third highest difficulty where boss starts doing colored damage
- EXT – Extreme difficulty, fourth highest difficulty
- DPS – Damage dealer
- Urban/Outdoor/Indoor – Terrain
- Crit Mald – You reset the run until you get enough crits for the clear you want
- Cheese – Low difficulty solo carry
If a - symbol was written behind a difficulty, it includes said difficulty and anything below it.
Image-based Tables Overview
The following sections are image-based tables that cover unit-by-unit data across different armor types and raid bosses. They include:
- Damage type categorizations: Explosive, Piercing, Mystic, Sonic
- Boss armor type mappings per table
- Recommendations for borrows (green = common borrows, yellow = conditional, red = not a priority)
Because these tables are presented as images in the source material, the textual transcription of every row and cell isn’t included here. The images themselves contain the full data. The sections that follow summarize the table structure and provide context for how to read the visuals.
- The “Image / Student / School / GLB Release Date / Minimum / Step 2 / Step 3 / Step 4 / Optimal for cost / Optimal if UE2* / Has unique gear? / Notes” style appears repeatedly across many pages. Each section contains many rows corresponding to individual students with their gear, investment steps, and notes.
- The images include rows for Airi, Akane, Akari, Ako, Aris, Aru, Asuna, Atsuko, Azusa, Cherino, Chiaki, Chinatsu, Eimi, Fubuki, Gekka, Hanako, Hare, Haruka, Hina, Hiyori, Hoshino, Ibuki, Izumi, Izuna, Junko, Kaho, Kanna, Karin, Kazusa, Kikyou, Kirara, Kotama, Kotori, Maki, Mari, Mashiro, Miku, Mutsu, Nonomi, Noa, Nonomi, Pina, Rei, Reijo, Reisa, Renge, Rumi, Saki, Sakurako, Satsuki, Saya, Serika, Shigure, Shiroko, Shizuko, Sumire, Tomoe, Tsubaki, Tsukuyo, Tsurugi, Ui, Umika, Utaha, Yoshimi, Yuno, Yuzu, and many more.
Notes on usage:
- The images are intended to help you quickly reference borrows across raids, with color-coded cells indicating priority and conditional use.
- The guide emphasizes that borrowing should be planned around content needs and available units; it is not optimal to raise every unit to the maximum if not necessary for the upcoming content.

Notes on Content Extraction (Image Tables)
- The source document contains many image-based tables that convey expansive data across dozens of units. To preserve accuracy, textual extraction of every row/column from those images was not performed in this Markdown export. Users should consult the original image tables for exact values and notes.
- The textual sections provided above summarize the intent and structure of the tables and offer guidance on how to interpret the image data.

Final Notes on Usage
- This guide aims to help players optimize student skill investments at common breakpoints in Blue Archive, balancing cost with content needs.
- Always account for available borrows and team compositions when planning investments.
- The recommendation of maximum investment (5 / M / M / M) is a general cap; individual players may adjust based on content, team strategy, and resource availability.
Appendix: Quick Reference Borrow Tips
- For Hard content like Perorodzilla and Goz phase fights, high UE investments can unlock powerful debuffs and damage windows; however, these require significant materials.
- For early content and farmable units, prioritize cost-efficient investments and leverage borrows to fill gaps in your team.
- Bond gear and Exclusive Equipment (UE) can dramatically alter a unit’s utility; weigh the cost against long-term play goals and content rotation.
