Aatrox
Aatrox 3.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play around his Q casts/cooldown and his E cooldown. Don't be afraid to punish him whenever his E is on cooldown and avoid his sweetspots as much as possible. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Aatrox wants to poke or combo you with his Qs. Make sure to dodge as many as possible. Deny the sweet spots at all costs. His Qs don't deal a lot of damage while he is level 1-3, but starting level 4, the damage ramps up significantly. Aatrox struggles against champions that can stay on top of him.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Don't let Aatrox crash waves continuously, or he can use his Qs to poke you under tower while using the knock-up to deny your last hits. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Level 1: Take E if Aatrox threatens you with Qs from the beginning. If he plays passive, start with Q.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Early Bramble isn't necessary. Buying Armor reduces his damage and the healing he get's from dealing damage. Stand behind minions and Aatrox won't be able to use W onto you to combo it with Qs. If he hits you with it, use your W to prevent the pull, run out, or use E towards a minion.
Level 6+
Look for all-ins between his Q casts/while his Q is on cooldown or once his E is on cooldown, even if he is in a healthy spot. Use All Out to stay on top of him and he won't be able to space you or hit his sweet spots, except for Q3. Hold E or W/RW for this. You can also use All Out to dodge his Q2 or Q3 hitbox. Charge RW during one of his Q casts while his E is on cooldown, and he won't be able to dodge it. His healing isn’t a major issue in the early game, even if he uses his R in return.
Iceborn Gauntlet allows you to consistently stay on top of Aatrox. Early boots help with dodging his Qs.
Additional Informations
Managing your E becomes more important the lower Aatrox's Q cooldown gets. Eventually, his Q cooldown will be lower than your E, and his Q has a cooldown refund for every Q he doesn't cast after Q1. Make sure to track it.
If Aatrox goes Black Cleaver first, make sure that he can't keep the Black Cleaver stacks active on you with his Q poke. Just wait until the stacks run out before you engage. He isn't good at applying stacks quickly but can keep stacks up easily if you keep getting hit by his Q spam.
Akali
Akali 3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Space her Q's early. Use her forced E2 and R1 movements against her. Play safe until you get MR. Don't force fights with her W Shroud up/available. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth/Unflinching
Laning Overview
Akali wants to poke you with her Qs starting at level 1 and you need to space her and bait her into using it. Your Q has a shorter range making it not worth trading Qs and her resulting passive proc (Akali deals a lot more damage with more Attack Range and bonus Movement Speed). Secondary Rune Path(s) Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Her early Qs cost a lot of Energy, and she often runs out of it after two uses. Space them throughout the laning phase, and she won't be able to go for longer trades. Play around her W. Don't force trades once she uses it, or use Q3/W to push her out of it/stun her during the shroud duration. Make sure you know exactly where she is before using W, or she will turn on you and can punish you hard, using the Movement Speed it provides to hit you easily without being able to trade back effectively. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Don't be afraid to force short trades and punish her if she leaves her shroud, if it is on cooldown, or if she is really low on Energy. (Keep in mind that her W gives her more Energy.) Once she hits you with E and uses the recast to dash to you, charge W into her. She is locked into the dash and can't avoid your W unless she uses Flash, but it isn't as easy to time if she is very close to you. You Rush Kaenic Rookern can do the same with her R1 and R2.
Once you recall for Negatron Cloak, the matchup becomes a lot easier. Level 6+
Her R1 forces her to dash behind you. React to her R1 cast by channeling W backward and release it as soon as possible. Most Akalis want to use their R1 end position to hit an almost guaranteed E, and stunning her with a well-timed W denies that setup (you can also sidestep/dodge with E). Her R2 requires more prediction than reaction. It is also a dash with a fixed distance rather than an end location. Depending on how close she is to you, its easy to figure out where she ends up once she uses it. (if shes closer she will dash further away, if shes far away then she will end up closer to you)
Use Kaenic Rookern's shield to trade for her Energy and Health. As an Energy champion, she struggles to continuously fight through the Shield.
Additional Informations
Be careful once you use All Out because it allows her to burst you a lot easier. Make sure to find an all-in window once her W/R are on cooldown or use RW to reduce the damage of her burst. Once you initiate an all-in, she is able to use her R1 to buy a lot of time for her cooldowns before re-engaging.
She is very disruptive in fights because of her shroud and mobility, but all her dashes can be canceled if you time it well. Pay attention to her position and ping your team if she tries to roam.
VoD's/Clips
Aatreus (Patch 25.05 | Midlane)
Ambessa
Ambessa 8.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Let her push early, play safe and farm until you have more Armor. Play more aggressive after. Trade with her during her Ability cast times or when she dashes into you. Grasp > Aftershock
Demolish/Shield Bash + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Let her push early and farm safely under tower. Look to keep the wave in front of your tower. Avoid trading until your first recall (especially if she has Electrocute) unless you need to contest waves. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Trading / Fighting
Try to find patterns in how she uses her Passive dash after abilities (most tend to Q1 in and Q2 back out). Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity Ambessa's early game is quite weak, but she will still beat you until you can recall for more Armor. After that, trade more aggressively once she wastes her cooldowns (or dashes into you) and start shoving waves. Force waves to crash and proc Demolish while she is busy last-hitting/clearing the wave under tower.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Abuse her Q1 and W, as both have decent cast times, allowing you to hit Q/W while she can't move or look for opportunities to cancel the dashes that follow them. E is instant, and you have to predict it. Recommended Items
Use your E to mitigate her Q2 damage (can be hard to react to) or walk away if you notice a pattern in how fast she uses it after Q1.
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
If the wave is near your tower, look for opportunities to Q3 > W her into your tower whenever she decides to dash towards you.
Level 6+
Try to go for all-ins once some of her abilities are on cooldown. You are able to kill her from 100% health, and you just need to make sure she can't escape. (alt.) Starting Items: Cloth Armor + Refillable Potion
(optional) Plated Steelcaps
Most Ambessa players try to instantly R you after you use All Out. Sidestep it, use E to dodge it, or charge RW backward to guarantee a max charged hit. Double Chain Vest to stat-check her early. At this point, trades should never end evenly. Ambessa is able to out-sustain you because of her R's Omnivamp, and you just bleed health. Cloth Armor + Refillable Potion start requires matchup experience. It allows you to get Chain Vests faster. Additional Informations
Ambessa has decently long cooldowns early and needs ability haste to spam her abilities, at which point she becomes more threatening and starts to out-scale you. She should also build Black Cleaver to counter you. Grasp is easier to use against good Ambessa players, but Aftershock is still a strong option.
Aurora
Aurora 4
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Early bully and can't burst you once you have MR. Cancel her E and W dash. Use All Out against her R. Aftershock Demolish/Shield Bash + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Aurora has really strong poke early. Just let her push or bait her into pushing to farm safely under tower until you can afford Negatron Cloak. Bait her into using her Q by "fake last-hitting." Walk up earlier than necessary, and once you expect her to use Q, sidestep it or step back.
If you want to bait her into pushing, stand inside/behind your minions and bait out a Q. Otherwise, stay separate from your wave to prevent her from pushing and simultaneously poking you. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Trading / Fighting
Don't let her poke you with Auto Attacks and abilities continuously, and try to stay out of her Auto Attack range. For every three attacks or spells, she summons a Spirit that deals additional %Max Health Magic Damage and provides her sustain that stacks. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Being able to trade can be quite rough, since she has one of the less interactable laning phases for melees. She can easily react to your E>W engages with her W or E dash while punishing you.
Recommended Items
Look for engage windows once she uses Q, W, and/or E on your wave while she stands close to an allied minion. Engage with E>W or E>Q3 onto the minion, but don't make it obvious if she still has her W or E Rush Kaenic Rookern available. Try to use your displacements to cancel her W or E dash.
Second Wind + Biscuit Delivery help you through her early poke.
Level 6+
Her R makes killing her quite tricky if she has any of her dashes available. Try to bait them out first and engage after while holding All Out. Once you get on top of her, she has to try and escape. If she uses her R for it, use All Out to either force her towards the center of her R or use All Out through terrain to break her R area (The wall needs to be long enough that she leaves the circle). DO NOT PUSH HER INTO THE CIRCLES RIM OR SHE ESCAPES. The matchup can be rough before you get Negatron Cloak. Additional Informations
Aurora is strong in Skirmishes and Teamfights, especially once she hits level 6. If you see a fight nearby and Aurora wants to move, spamping your team. Fights in the open are manageable, but impossible if they happen in either teams jungle. She has a lot of options to jump over walls which you won't be able to follow at all. Kaenic Rookern just stat-checks her and makes her
less threatening. Play around Kaenic's shield cooldown if she pokes you a lot.
Camille
Camille 4.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play around her Passive shield. Kite out her Q2's. Play around her E and R. Grasp > Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth/Unflinching
Laning Overview
Play around her Keystone choice. She wants shorter poke patterns with Q and Grasp, longer trades with Conqueror, and rarely Press the Attack, in which case you want to disengage before the proc. If she runs Resolve, she most likely has Bone Plating. Try to proc it with Q before attempting to trade with her.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
She focuses her trades around her Passive cooldown. Let her proc it before you look for trades and all-ins or use W's stun to trade before she can proc it. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
When she tries to walk up to Q2 you, use your Q slow to kite her. Once the proc runs out or she tries to disengage, look for a Passive auto with Grasp. Use E to block her Q2 damage.
If she wants to poke you with her W, make sure to avoid the outer hitbox to deny the additional damage and healing. You can also use the time she is stuck in its animation to E into her for a short trade with Q>AA+Grasp and disengage after. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
She has no good option to farm minions safely. Look to Q and/or Auto Attack with Grasp when she has to walk up for last hits.
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Don’t hesitate to trade back if she wastes her Passive shield at any point. Use the cooldown to trade aggressively, but be careful of her Q Auto resets if you extend the trades for too long. Whenever she tries to engage with E, charge W into her, sidestep it, or dodge it with E and punish her.
(optional) Plated Steelcaps
Level 6+
Be patient with All Out and RW. If you all-in when her E is up, she can escape easily. You can use All Out directly to cancel her E (make sure to use it after her E connects to a wall). If she still has her R up, be aware that she may use it to dodge your RW. If she uses it too early, use her R animation to max-charge RW into her (requires good timing). Her Passive shield won’t protect her from RW True Damage. Double Chain Vest allows you to stat-check her as long as you play around her Q true damage. Plated Steelcaps affect her Q2 True Damage, and she is very Auto Attack-based. If she uses R on you before you use All Out, use W to push her out of her R circle or R her out/through terrain.
Grasp is recommended because her Passive Shield only blocks Physical Damage, making it easier to trade. It also allows you to respond with Q+AA to her frequent trading attempts.
Additional Informations
Camille needs her Q2 rotations to deal any damage to you at later stages of the game. While sidelaneing during mid/late game, kite her Q2 duration and trade back when it's down.
Be aware that she can engage from various angles in skirmishes/teamfights and can lock a target in position with her R.
Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia 3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play safe early. Avoid her Q's. Play around her R and look for her to miss-position. Aftershock Demolish/Shield bash + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
She doesn't have the mana pool to kill you early as long as you don’t allow her to E and Auto you for an extended time (let Doran’s Shield and Second Wind do their work). Play safe and focus on farming for Negatron Cloak. Once you have some Magic Resist, she won't be as much of a threat since she prefers scaling items (Rod of Ages, Seraph’s Embrace).
Let her push early and focus on farming while she can’t force extended trades near your tower. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Trading / Fighting
Dodge her Qs. Without the poison, her E deals a lot less damage and won’t provide her any sustain. If possible, run out of her E range if she lands Q, or bait her to walk up next to minions to turn on her by using E onto an allied minion. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
If you expect her to use W, buffer it with your W. The displacement prevents you from casting it, but won’t cancel your channel and dash if you use it before. The damage reduction also lowers her E damage. If she Recommended Items stands close, you can charge into her. Otherwise, just charge it toward a safe space.
Rush Kaenic Rookern
(Optional) Boots of Swiftness
Level 6+
She can’t do much if you all-in her with R. Stick on her and hold RW.
Level 6+
If her E is on cooldown already, run him down. If his E is still up, hold E or W/RW until he uses it. You can also cancel it with All Out directly.
Additional Informations
Her preference for scaling items allows you to play more aggressively early game/early-mid game, but she becomes dangerous as she scales.
Cho\'Gath
Cho'Gath 1
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Wait for 6. Avoid his Q's and be careful when using R because of his R and burst potential. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind/Conditioning + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Fighting Cho’Gath early can be pointless because he just sustains through your poke with his Passive. You just need to get level 6 and you win.
You can trade or go for short all-ins if he gives you an opportunity, but be careful, he can deal a lot of damage early. Secondary Rune Path(s) Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
The most important part of this lane is playing around his Q. The knock-up and slow make it easy for him to land follow-up damage or escape a trade. Sidestep it, escape with E, or buffer W through it.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
His W silence is very disruptive for extended fights, combos, or all-ins. He can also use Silence to prevent you from using W or E during his Q cast. Don’t rely on those abilities to dodge.
Recommended Items
Don’t stand in his E hitbox when he goes for last hits. Watch his positioning and what minion he’s about to attack to avoid it.
Rush Kaenic Rookern
Level 6+
You can engage him freely with All Out, but be careful, he can burst you down with R. Use RW when you expect him to W or once he uses Q. He is can't move during his Q and E cast times, making it easy to hit a max-charge RW. You can also use R directly to dodge his Q if you bait it out before engaging.
(alt.) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet > Finish Kaenic Rookern
Track his R cooldown/uses. Eventually, he’ll be forced to use it on minions to stack health, allowing you to kill him without much risk.
Additional Informations
Heartsteel rush Cho’Gath is easy to play against. Stacking health components early doesn’t help him against your all-ins. If he has Heartsteel and wants to proc it on you, turn on him.
Go Second Wind for a safer early game or Conditioning for extra scaling.
If he runs Hail of Blades + movement speed stacking, be careful when he walks up for his tripple E Auto burst. The extra movement speed makes him more annoying. Wait for him to walk up and stun him during Shurelya’s Battlesong's active.
Darius
Darius 5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Avoid extended fights at all cost. Focus on wave management. Always respect him. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Wave management takes priority in this matchup! If you can freeze or keep the wave in front of your tower, the lane becomes unplayable for Darius. He won’t be able to trade freely and will always be at risk of drawing tower aggro due to his Passive bleed, allowing you to control fights easily. However, if Darius is able to keep the wave near his tower, he can run you down instead.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Trading / Fighting
Throughout the lane, focus on short trades to prevent Darius from proccing his Passive and snowballing a kill. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Most Darius players aim to force trades at level 1 while zoning you from minion experience. Don’t commit to these trades and instead keep your distance and poke him with your Q range while trying to get into experience range. Throughout the lane, focus on short trades to prevent Darius from proccing his Passive and snowballing a kill. If he walks into you level 1 while zoning you off, you can level W and reduce the Auto + w damage he does, meanwhile you full charge stun him while putting yourself in xp range, this does require some practice. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Play around his E, and he is a lot less threatening while you can farm more safely. Look for patterns in how Darius uses it. Try to bait it by stepping into its range and walking out again before he uses it, or use W to buffer through it. Without E, he can't really force any fights unless he is able to run you down with Ghost.
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
(alt.) Chain Vest + Bramble Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Trading / Fighting
If he tries to walk up for a W > Q combo, charge W into him to avoid the outer rim of his Q to prevent a bleed stack and his healing. Use the time he is stunned to do a Q+AA and disengage to an allied minion with E, ensuring he doesn’t have time to pull you back with his E.
Level 6+
Be really careful when fighting him. He can easily turn fights with his massive R true damage, even if he is under your tower. If he is under your tower and you still have W, Q3, or R available, use them before he gets his last Passive stack or if you expect him to ult you, stunning him and potentially killing him before he is able to use it. Soak some of his R's damage with your E.
Additional Informations
Always be careful when fighting Darius throughout the game. If you don’t pay attention, he can force extended trades onto you and kill you quickly, even if you’re ahead.
His E armor penetration, Black Cleaver, and R true damage make him a threat in any extended fight.
Dr. Mundo
Mordekaiser 1
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Very immbolie, his abilities are very telegraphed and he has to stand still to cast them. Avoid extended fights early. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Let him push early and avoid extended fights.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Try to bait his Qs by walking up close into its range and moving back once he starts casting it. Avoid getting hit by isolated Qs. His Q has a long cooldown early, allowing you to farm a lot safer if it's on cooldown.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Wait for him to waste his Q or W before trading. Use his self-roots on Q/E to initiate trades, allowing you to hit abilities he can't dodge.
Recommended Items
Rush Kaenic Rookern > Iceborn Gauntlet If Morde is close to your tower and he procs his passive, throw him into your tower, and he gets guaranteed tower aggro.
(alt) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet > finish Kaenic Rookern Level 6+
His R is easy to react to (he holds up his mace pointing it at you) and you can easily cancel it with W or RW. R needs some more precise timing, but you should always cancel it and hold an ability to do so. Whenever you block his R with W/RW, you can freely charge into him because of his self-root.
Kaenic's Shield allows to trade without taking any damage. Throughout the game, he should never win an all-in as long as you cancel his R every time he wants to go for it.
Additional Informations
Be careful when contesting jungle objectives because he can kidnap your jungler. You can zone him easily if you have to.
If you aren't able to cancel his R, make sure to manipulate the position of it. His ult target will always be the center location of his death realm, and having it near your tower makes it impossible for him to walk up. You can also use walls to your advantage if you have to escape.
Fiora
Fiora 6.8
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Deny her vitals. Play safe early. Create a lead after Bramble Vest before she gets Ravenous Hydra. Play around her W Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
The whole matchup revolves around denying her Vital procs. Vitals always rotate in 2 pairs: North and East or South and West. If she procs a North Vital, the next one will either be South or West.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
You always want to position yourself in a way that makes it hard for her to hit Vitals. (If you have a North Vital, position above her; South Vital, below her; don’t walk up too close if the Vital is behind you). If the Vital is facing her, either trade it to last hit and block her proc with E or walk out of range to reset it. (Make sure you don't lose minion experience.) Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Short trades mostly depend on how she uses her Q to hit a Vital. If you make it hard for her to proc it, she has to Q closer to you, allowing you to trade back with Q > AA, but if you allow her to proc it easily, she can hit it with a max range Q and you won't be able to trade back. You can also bait her to use her max range Q and move toward the opposite direction, causing her to miss you. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Aim to block her Vitals by positioning right next to a wall whenever she tries to all-in or do an extended trade. Bramble Vest > 2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
Whenever she uses R, you have to deny one of the Vitals by hugging a wall. Once she procs all 4, she gets her healing AoE, and you won't be able to kill her anymore, losing the all-in once she turns on you. Bramble Vest first makes trading/fighting her a lot easier. Once you have Bramble Vest, look for trades and all-ins. You can use R to cancel her Q dash if she tries to disengage and Q3 to bait out her W if it's not on cooldown. Charge RW during her W animation.
Grasp is the preferred keystone as it helps trade against her Q poke. Aftershock is harder to use due to her W. Second Wind helps sustaining her Q poke and True Damage..
Additional Informations
You need to create a lead in lane between your Bramble Vest purchase and before she finishes Ravenous Hydra. Once she has it, she will sustain through your trades and continuously hard shove waves.
She doesn't like to itemize Armor Pen and purely relies on her Passive procs to deal with it. As long as you deny her Vitals, you stat check her. Fimbul can be good for dealing with her true damage.
Late game Fiora can be very difficult to kill, so make sure you're near a tower and being on ultra high alert with denying vitals, as one vital will chunk you massively.

Gangplank
Gangplank 4.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Eat poke with E. Deny his Barrels. Create a lead in lane. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Be careful at level 1 if he hasn't shown himself. He can start E and prepare a barrel combo in a bush or wait for you to walk up and Q you. Start E at level 1 if you want to play safe and use it against his E or Q damage. Use E to block his Q poke throughout the laning phase. Play for level 6.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Don't let him zone you at level 1 and play around bushes if you need to. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
After level 1, Gangplank mostly stays back, poking you with Qs and threatening you with his barrels. Use E to soak his poke with the shield.
Focus on trades when there aren't a lot of barrels around him (you can deal with one if you stun him with Q3/W and auto the barrel).
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Don't trade while he has his Passive or use E against the True Damage. His Passive deals a lot of True Damage, and whenever he destroys a barrel, the Passive refreshes. This makes you lose trades easily if you Recommended Items don't pay attention and he is able to proc it multiple times during a trade.
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
(optional) Randuin's Omen
If you face multiple crit carries or enemies that bought Sundered Sky, look to build Randuin's Omen. Replace one of the Chain Vests with Warden's Mail if you want to finish it early.
Level 6+
Make sure the wave is near your tower when you want to look for an all-in. You need space to run him down with All Out and focus on destroying his barrels between Q casts while keeping W/RW for the barrels you won't be able to deny or his Q. His barrels' slow is the only way he can escape, but he can also try to fight back with Passive spam.
Additional Informations
Play for a lead in lane, or he will be a very big threat later on.
Garen
Garen 6.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play around his Keystone choice. Don't let him hit his E for free and respect his R. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Play around his Keystone choice. Phase Rush allows him to escape after short trades and scales better but is weaker in lane. Conqueror wants to force stronger trades onto you, and Grasp wants to create pressure early while poking you down with Q + Grasp autos.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Let Garen push early and focus on bouncing waves until the recall. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Avoid standing in his E at all costs. It deals a lot of damage over time and reduces your Armor after a few procs. Garen's only option to trade with you is running at you with the Q Movement Speed. Zone him with your Q slow until the proc runs out. If he hasn't used Q at the beginning, be careful because it cleanses slows on use. Disengage with E toward an allied minion before he is able to apply his Silence if you aren't able to kite him. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Look for trades whenever his E is on cooldown, and he won't be able to do anything to you. Make sure to disengage before it comes off cooldown. 2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Conqueror is focused around extended fights and skirmishes. He wants to force extended trades whenever he gets to Silence you, and you want to avoid that at all costs, or he snowballs the lane. Once he has his Conqueror stacked (E stacks it pretty fast), trading will be dangerous because of the bonus stats he gets from Conqueror. Grasp deals a lot of damage early, and you need to make sure that he can't constantly proc it. Your E won't shield enough to avoid the damage. He will continue it until he can all-in with R. Phase Rush is rather tricky to deal with, but since they usually want to escape after a short time, use Q3 or W to charge into him, forcing him to be stunned during the Phase Rush proc.
Level 6+
If Garen doesn't have Flash and/or Phase Rush available, you can engage with R, and he won't be able to escape despite his Q slow removal. Be careful if his E isn't on cooldown and respect his R execute.
Additional Informations
If Garen has Phase Rush and you let him proxy, the matchup is pretty much lost. It is very hard to catch him because of Phase Rush, and he easily outscales you for free. Make sure to ping your team if you expect him to roam between waves. The only way you can avoid it is by pushing the wave out of your tower if it is obvious that he wants to run behind your tower or preventing it from crashing in the first place. If Garen does manage to proxy, try to match his proxy on the T2 or T3 tower and recall after pushing the wave so you can escort the next wave coming from base and prevent his proxy.
Gnar
Gnar 9
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Wait for him to missposition or when he turns mega. Use E on his 3-hit passive. Cancel his E if possible. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Just stay back early and use E to block his 3-hit Passive’s Magic Damage. Be careful if he gets to proc it because of the Movement Speed he gets.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Once the wave is close to your tower, he won't have enough space to chase you. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
If he walks up as Mini-Gnar, use E > W on an allied minion and chase him down until he uses his E or becomes Mega-Gnar. Once everything is on cooldown then you can back up if needed.
Recommended Items
Whenever he walks up as Mega-Gnar, engage with E > Q onto an allied minion. Use W to react to his W and dodge his Boulder Q. As long as it's in a position where he can't pick it up easily, he won't get the cooldown refund. Use W/Q3 to push him further away from it or kite him in another direction. 2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
Mini-Gnar gets more Movement Speed from his W for each rank in his R. This makes it easier for him to kite you if you misplay. Once you've finished the recommended items and Gnar has Black Cleaver, build around mixed resistances going forward, depending on the enemy comp. (Magic Resistance is very good against his W damage. Option examples: Jak'Sho, Kaenic Rookern.)
Mega-Gnar's R needs some prediction to avoid it with W or R, but it's usually very obvious because they walk up in a weird way, trying to align the knock-back with a wall.
All-ins become easier once he wastes his E. You can also look for an engage with E and use R to cancel his E dash. Time W/RW to block his Mega-Gnar W/R and guarantee a max charge RW because of the animation he is stuck in.
Additional Informations
Mini-Gnar is really good at kiting you if you misplay or walk up too far. He becomes better at it with the stats he gets for each level and likes to build T2 boots early. Once he has T2 boots, avoid engaging with E > Q, or he runs you down if you aren't close to your tower.
His itemization is really hard to deal with. Early T2 boots help him kite, Black Cleaver cripples your scalings while granting Movement Speed, and Trinity Force grants him even more Movement Speed. His W %max Health Magic Damage becomes really dangerous once he gets some ranks on it.
Level 6+
All-ins become easier once he wastes his E. You can also look for an engage with E and use R to cancel his E dash if needed. Time W/RW to block his Mega-Gnar W/R and guarantee a max charge RW because of the animation he is stuck in.

Recommended Runes
Short Version
Block his E combo\'s with W. Use W/RW against his E and W/R/RW against his R. Avoid Q poke. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth/Unflinching
Laning Overview
Gragas with Grasp and Phase Rush play similarly. The only difference is that Grasp leaves him more vulnerable after a combo, and you don't want to let him walk up and use Grasp + W Auto on you.
If he has Sorcery (for Manaflow Band), he wants to get his stacks by using his Q. You can manipulate him into pushing by standing inside your wave, or you can stay separate from your minions, forcing him to Secondary Rune Path(s) decide how he wants to use it.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Find patterns in his E usage.
Trading / Fighting
Avoid his Q poke as much as possible and stay behind minions if he tries to combo you with his E.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
He has no safe option to clear waves from a distance (until he has decent Mana sustain to use Q). Look for trades with E > Q, once he begins reacting to it with E, you can use W after Q (or E > W directly). Charge W into him and keep trading.

He has no safe option to clear waves from a distance (until he has decent Mana sustain to use Q). Look for trades with E > Q, once he begins reacting to it with E, you can use W after Q (or E > W directly). Charge W into him and keep trading.
Tear > Kaenic Rookern If Gragas has Phase Rush, let him walk up and bait him into using it on you (stay close to your minions where his W hitbox will still hit you). Respond with W and stun him once his Phase Rush procs, wasting its duration and allowing you to continue the trade.
Level 6+
Look for engages when his Phase Rush is on cooldown. If he uses E to disengage, use E > W/RW on top of him (his E hitbox is huge). Once he is forced to use R, time All Out to prevent the knock-back, or if you used All Out already, hold RW for it. Once his disengage options aren't available, you are able to run him down.
Optional) Mercury's Treads
Go the (alt.) build path if you create a lead in lane.
Additional Informations
Tear is needed to get the required Mana sustain to deal with his trades.
Gwen
Gwen 4.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Focus wave management. Play around her E cooldown and Q stacks. Aftershock > Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Focus on wave management and force the wave near your tower or set up slow pushes. This allows you to control fights more easily and safely farm until you get magic resistance. Don’t initiate trades while she has Q stacks. Whoever commits first is at a disadvantage. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Trading / Fighting
Gwen’s entire laning approach revolves around stacking Q on the wave and aiming it at you, using E to reposition. Dodge the center of her Q or use E sideways to avoid the True Damage. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Zone her from the wave near your tower or during a slow push to prevent her from stacking Q. This makes it hard for her to use E effectively. If Gwen E\'s into you, charge W after and trade back. If Gwen uses it to escape, punish the long cooldown. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Look for trades when she has no Q stacks, but hold your W. If Gwen uses E first, you can win the trade by charging W into her. If you use W first, she can dodge it with E and beat you.
Rush Kaenic Rookern > Iceborn Gauntlet
Be careful when using Q3 on her. She can buffer her Q during it and hit you for free.
If she E's aggressively near your tower, don’t be afraid to throw her into it. Even if minions prevent tower aggro, she still can’t trade back effectively without drawing aggro. (optional) Bramble Vest
Kaenic Rookern makes the matchup easy until Gwen gets more items and magic penetration. Level 6+
All-ins are easy if she has no Q stacks or E available. Use All Out to dodge one of her Q or R casts if needed. Otherwise, focus on dodging them.
Be careful if the wave is near her tower, she can run you down with R (and Ghost) if you waste E or W.
Iceborn Gauntlet's slow as a second item allows you to stick to her. Additional Informations
Bramble Vest helps against her healing, but building Armor against her isn’t as effective.

Don't contest push early. Don't fight inside his turret's. Seperate him from his turrets when trading or going for an all-in. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
There’s no real point in contesting his early push. Just focus on last-hitting under tower while avoiding as much poke as possible until you get Magic Resist. Track his turret charges by looking at the orbs that rotate around him.
Trading / Fighting
Use E to shield his W poke or dodge his E stun while last-hitting under tower.
Recommended Items
Look for Heimer to walk up and misposition next to an allied minion. Use E > W on the minion to engage on him. Don’t go too deep into his turret zone. You can also use E > Q3 and W to push him toward your tower, forcing him away from his turrets so he can’t trade back effectively. Rush Kaenic Rookern
Level 6+
Use All Out to separate him from his turrets. Throwing him through terrain ensures he can’t reach them, but be cautious if he can still place new ones, especially his RQ turret.
(alt.) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet > finish Kaenic
Use W/RW to buffer through his E stun and the empowered turret shots. Go the alt. build path if you created a lead in lane. Dodge his RW with E or soak it with E > W.
Second Wind and Biscuit Delivery help sustain through his poke. Additional Informations
After getting some resists, you can easily kill turrets with 1–2 Qs. Clear them whenever possible, even using Q3 if needed.

Illaoi
Illaoi 5.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Always pay attention to her tentacle positions. Play around her E. Don’t fight in her R zone. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Always track Tentacle positions and play around their hitboxes when she uses W. Get a feel for them, especially after she ults, since her Tentacles won’t show hitboxes during her R. Keep the wave near your tower to stop her from running you down with W spam. However, be careful, she can spam Q and E while you farm under tower.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Find patterns in her E usage. Be careful when standing behind a low HP minion, she can Q to clear the minions and then E instantly right after, opening up the angle for her E. Pay attention to the HP of your minions to avoid this.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Avoid her Qs to deny her damage and healing. The same applies to her E, stand behind minions and once you manage to bait it out, look for a trade.
Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Trade between her E cooldown while watching for Tentacle slams. Trades aren’t worth it if she heals back from Tentacle hits.
If she W's aggressively, use Q3 or W to cancel it mid-jump. Bait it by standing near W range and disengage after stunning her. (optional) Bramble Vest
Level 6+
When engaging, play around her E and R cooldowns. Always try to separate her from existing Tentacles. During her R animation, she becomes unstoppable—your Q3, W, or R won’t displace her.
Additional Informations
Your Spirit becomes harder for her to kill the more Armor you get.
Illaoi does not get anti heal applied to her when she auto attacks your Spirit, even if you have bramble vest.
Irelia
Irelia 2
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play around her Passive stacks and avoid extended fights. Abuse her Q dashes. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Play safe early and avoid extended fights.
Always play around her Passive stacks and watch minion health. She wants to force extended trades with full Passive stacks whenever possible. She can stack it quickly if multiple minions are low, dashing to them Secondary Rune Path(s) and then onto you. She might also prepare a caster minion to die with one Q before fighting.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Trade when she has no Passive stacks and no way to quickly stack them (watch minion health). She want's to force extended trades with full passive stacks whenever possible.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Use her telegraphed Qs against her. Cancel her dashes with Q3/W. If you do, her Q will go on a long cooldown, forcing her to play passively. Recommended Items
Bramble Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
When all-inning her, separate her from the wave. Don’t use All Out in the middle of the lane, or she’ll reposition and heal on your minions while stacking Passive. Instead, look for opportunities to All Out her through a wall, isolating her for a favorable stat check.
Trading becomes much easier after you buy Bramble Vest. Irelia often uses R immediately after All Out ,be ready to dodge it. Use RW if she W's, since it won’t stop RW’s True Damage and guarantees a full charge.
Iceborn Gauntlet’s slow makes it impossible for her to escape and makes it harder for her to reach the wave once you separate her with All Out.
Avoid fighting near her tower or she can run you down using minions as gap closers. However, if you’re close to your own tower, go for trades since she can’t freely dash around.
Additional Informations
Whenever you all-in her next to waves, be prepared for her to use Q's on minions to heal up, stack her passive and waste some of your All Out duration before she can re-engage.
Irelia Q will always position her behind the target, use this to your advantage if you suspect her about to Q onto you, W backwards for a big stun.
Jax
Jax 3.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Avoid extended fights against Lethal Tempo. Block his W+Grasp damage with E. Easily bricked by resistances. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Look for his Keystone choice. Avoid extended fights against Lethal Tempo/Conqueror, and don't let him walk up to proc Grasp + W or PTA on you. The matchup becomes a lot easier once you've bought some resistances. Jax isn't able to deal with it at all unless he baits you into an extended fight and runs you down.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Look for patterns in how he uses his E recast if he engages onto you. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Start W level 1 if Jax tries to zone you from the wave. Once the enemy melee minions are about to die, walk up and charge W into him if he tries to trade and dash into exp range. Don't allow Jax to just walk up with E if he wants to trade. Use Q to zone and slow him if he attempts to do so. Make sure he has to fully commit with his Q, leaving him without an escape tool after.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
If he recasts E early after jumping on you, disengage with E early. If he holds it a bit longer, you can use a Q before disengaging (cast it during his jump animation to guarantee a hit). You can also use W to re- Recommended Items
Negatron Cloak + Chain Vest > finish
Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
Continuously poke him with Qs during the lane and make sure he can't walk up to trade with a W auto.
Level 6+
If Jax tries to Q away or stun you with E to escape whenever you try to all-in him, cancel it with a well-timed Q3, tap W, or All Out, or initiate an all-in when he uses Q aggressively or if it is on cooldown.
Additional Informations
Be careful if the wave is close to his tower. He can try to all-in you and chase you through the lane.
Try to find all-in windows when his Passive isn't stacked. His R reduces his on-hit passive from 3 to 2 Auto Attacks and he can deal a lot of DPS during that time.
Jayce
Jayce 5.8
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Don't let him poke you a lot. Win W against his melee E mindgames. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Jayce can be quite annoying to deal with early if he is good at spacing, making it difficult to trade back.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Limit the number of autos he can do to poke you by positioning behind minion/in a bush while dodging his ranged Qs.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Wait for him to step next to an allied minion and engage using E onto it. Once he changes into his melee form, use Q3/W to cancel his Q jump. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Trades mostly depend on mind games between his melee E and your W. You need to block the knockback, or you won't be able to stay on top of him. He can also hold his melee E until your W channel is over and cancel your dash or buffer his E through your W knockback and stun. 2x Chain Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Don't walk up too far in lane, or he will be able to chase you through the lane. Keeping the wave near your tower prevents that.
Level 6+
Wait for him to misposition before engaging. Winning the mind game with W against his melee E easily secures a kill. Use RW/RE to reposition while blocking as much damage as possible.
If you go All Out, Jayce will try to disengage with his melee E as soon as possible.
Additional Informations
To prevent constant early poke, putting a ward in the 2nd or first bush will slow jayce down. if he tries to auto you and drop minion aggro by walking into a bush, he will not drop minion aggro due to the bush being warded, forcing him to walk back more. This goes for any ranged matchup.
Kayle
Kayle 9
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Focus wave management. Create xp lead to run her down once you hit lvl 6. Becomes harder with each upgrade. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Focus on wave management, get a freeze, and zone her as much as possible. You want to hit level 6 before her for a free kill. Once she hits level 6, the matchup becomes a lot harder.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Once the wave is in a good position on your side of the lane, start zoning Kayle using your Qs. Soak her E damage with your E and dodge her Q. Recommended Items
If she steps too close to an allied minion, engage with E > W/Q onto it. Once she has Swiftie Boots, always engage with E + W since E + Q won't guarantee hitting W afterward, and you won't even have time to get an auto off. Null-Magic Mantle > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
If you get an XP advantage and hit level 6 first, just run her down. (alt.) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet Null-Magic Mantle provides enough Magic Resist to deal with Kayle's magic damage while allowing you to get Iceborn Gauntlet as fast as possible. Negatron Cloak is the safer option but delays Iceborn Gauntlet a lot more.
If she is also level 6, don't be afraid to use R early. You rely on All Out to stick onto her. Make sure to hold RW, and once she responds with R, time your RW to soak her auto + R AoE damage and hit a fully charged RW, easily one-shotting her.
Recommended Items
Iceborn Gauntlet allows you to punish her whenever she walks up or mispositions, helping you keep Kayle behind.
Additional Informations
Kayle is like a ticking time bomb, bound to outscale you. You need to make sure that you set her behind as much as possible.
Kennen
Kennen 6.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play behind your Wave. Use W when he is about to stun you. Don't let him run you down through the lane. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Try to keep the wave near your tower so he doesn't have enough space to run you down. Play with your wave, hiding behind minions, and he won't be able to constantly poke you with Qs and autos unless he can crash the wave. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Whenever he walks into your wave to auto you, use E + W to engage.
Recommended Items
Avoid using E > Q because he can easily react to it and disengage with his E before you can get your W off. Rush Kaentic Rookern
Level 6+
Wait for him to walk up close to your tower and try to stun him through his E duration. Use Q3, W stun, or All Out for this. Buffer W/RW through his stuns/ult stun and abuse the fact that he can't stun you again for a while.
Additional Informations
Be careful in skirmishes and teamfights. Kennen can flank your backline with ult and kill everyone easily. Make sure to have proper vision to spot him early.
Kled
Kled 2.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play around his W. Wait for him to use E for engages. Don't get baited by his re-mounting. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Kled is really strong during the early laning phase. Avoid fighting him and dying at all costs. Let him push the lane and farm safely close to your tower.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
His trades mainly revolve around his W. The damage is really high because of the fast autos and base damage, but he isn't able to control it. He may hold a skill point for it until he is able to fight you during the early game, just so he can guarantee a really good outcome for himself. Just play safe and make sure you don't allow him to trade with it.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Look for short trades between his W cooldowns, as he has to eventually use it for last-hitting. His trades heavily rely on it, and it also allows him remount incredibly fast.
Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Dodge his Qs to prevent him from forcing his W trades onto you. If you get hit, use E before the pull or W. When fighting near your turret, bait Kled into a trade and throw him under tower with Q3 > W (> R) when he overcommits.
Level 6+
If he ever wastes E and gets close to you, use All Out regardless of his HP, and you can kill him. But make sure you keep E ready until you use All Out to benefit from the shorter cooldown, making fights easier. Your RW deals a lot of damage because Kled has a high base HP amount. You can also one-shot Mini-Kled pretty fast because of it. Don't get baited while he is dismounted and his W is up. He can stack his remounting very quickly with it and turn on you.
Additional Informations
Kled's ult allows him to roam for skirmishes pretty fast while making engagement easier for his whole team. Make sure to ping him when he starts walking to a skirmish that's nearby or if you expect him to ult down mid or bot lane. Use that time to push waves and get tower plates, or follow with TP if you think you can win the fight.
Malphite
Malphite 1.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Block his Q poke with E. React to his R with W. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Look at his Keystone choice. He either goes Comet (focus on Q poke) or Grasp (extended fights with W/E max). He can't really kill you at all as long as you avoid extended fights early against his Grasp build. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
If he has Comet/Sorcery: Malphites tend to focus Q on you early around their Mana Flow Band cooldown if they have it. Soak his Q damage with E. As long as his Q is on cooldown, he has to walk up to last-hit as well. Use that time to punish him with an Aftershock combo or Q+Grasp proc.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Grasp+W/E max: Prevent him from proccing Grasp for free, especially if he combined it with his W's initial burst. Use E to soak most of his damage or charge W into him, allowing you to trade back. Recommended Items
Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
When you go for an all-in with All Out and Malphite has his ult up, he most likely wants to use it to disengage. If you have Aftershock, you can use it to chunk him really hard with an Aftershock RW combo to create lane pressure.
Negatron Cloak can be used after Iceborn Gauntlet, based on the enemy comp and if you want Kaenic Rookern or Jak'Sho. Unless Malphite is AP, building Kaenic for him specifically isn't worth it.
Once you have Negatron Cloak, you are able to just walk next to his tower with your minions for a demolish proc, but be careful if he has ult up. If his ult is enough to clear all your minions, use W to buffer through the knock-up and get out before he chunks you too hard. This might be more dangerous if he goes E max, but it also allows you to kidnap him once he wastes his ult as long as you react to his R with your W.
If he gets a gank, you can predict him using ult as a setup. Negate the knock-up with your W and, especially if he aims behind you, you can turn on him by kicking him into your tower.
Additional Informations
Pay attention to him in teamfights. His ult can be very devastating, but you are very likely to play near your backline. Make sure to react with W and push him away afterward, or try your best to keep him out of the fight.
Mordekaiser
Mordekaiser 1
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Very immobile, his abilities are very telegraphed and he has to stand still to cast them.
Recommended Items
Go for the (alt.) build if you get a lead during the early lane or if you want to snowball. Iceborn Gauntlet makes it a lot easier to control fights and prevents him from escaping you.
Additional Informations
Be careful when contesting jungle objectives because he can kidnap your jungler. You can zone him easily if you have to.
If you aren\'t able to cancel his R, make sure to manipulate the position of it. His ult target will always be the center location of his death realm, and having it near your tower makes it impossible for him to walk up. You can also use walls to your advantage if you have to escape.

Secondary Rune Path(s)
Laning Overview
Don't let Nasus stack for free and don't allow him to freeze the wave. You can push waves early to limit how many minions he can last-hit under the tower with Q until he gets some haste.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Whenever he walks up to last-hit, punish him with a Q+AA as long as he isn't able to trade back every time you go for it. Try to zone him/push him away from cannon minions to prevent him from getting the increased stacks.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Leave his E AoE as soon as possible. It reduces your armor and all your armor scalings. Avoid fighting in it, and be careful if he pairs it with his Wither. Disengage to an ally minion with E or wait it out using W to reduce his damage as well.
Rush Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
All-ins are free once he wastes his Wither and you got a couple of good trades on him, but he can easily turn on you if you are too confident and he has his Wither and ult. Use W/RW to buy you time or use E to escape until the Wither ends and re-engage after. Look to combine the 10% Tenacity and Slow Resistance shard, and Mercury's Treads (if the game allows it). With this combination, you are almost able to hold W through his entire W duration, wasting a lot of his time.
Additional Informations
Very tricky matchup if unexperienced.
Olaf
Olaf 4.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Focus wave management. Soak his E with your E. Get him away from his axes. Avoid extended fights. Kite out his R. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Olaf is an early-game bully who just wants to fight and create a gold lead.
Let him push and keep the wave near your tower to prevent him from getting extended trades. If he still tries, throw him under your tower. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Dodge his Qs and soak his E true damage with your E.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
When trading, be wary of his Qs because of the armor shred. Make sure to kite away from his axes or use Q3 and W to drag him away from them to prevent the cooldown refund. Otherwise, once he gets some ability haste, he’ll be able to throw two axes constantly.
Rush Thornmail > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
His R is the trickiest part to deal with because the CC immunity counters you. Once he uses R, kite him out or disengage with E. If you're close to a wall, you can use All Out to escape, but make sure you don’t distance yourself too far. You just want to wait out his R before re-engaging.
(alt.) Bramble Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Another option is to use All Out after he throws his axe, creating even more distance between him and the axe so he can't pick it up. This only works consistently if his R is on cooldown.
Go (alt.) Build Path if you are able to create a lead in lane and the additional safety from Thornmail isn't needed.
Once you get a lead, try baiting out his R by faking an all-in. Hit Q3, charge W, and disengage with E instead of using All Out. Most Olaf players will ult to prevent a kidnap, giving you more opportunities to punish him once it's on cooldown.
Additional Informations
Don’t get baited by him being low health. His W provides a shield scaling with missing health, and his passive grants attack speed and omnivamp based on missing health.
Ornf {#ornn}
Ornn 1.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Be patient with your abilities and use them to counter Ornn's attempts to fight. Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
A simple matchup where you just want to farm for level 6 and take plates with Demolish. Don’t use W, E, or R randomly while his abilities are up, as you can counter him fairly easily. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Keep in mind he can use his W to block all your cc. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Avoid getting hit by his W as much as possible because of its high max-health magic damage.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Whenever he tries to proc Brittle on you, use W to completely negate it.
Recommended Items
Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet If he tries to knock you up with his E on a wall or his pillar, use E to get out of the zone or charge W into his face to negate the knock-up and re-engage.
Most of Ornn's damage comes from his W and Brittle proc, which are both magic damage, making early magic resist crucial. Level 6+ You can usually run him down as long as you play patiently with your abilities. R his E dash, and use R/W to prevent him from casting R2 for the knock-up and Brittle proc. Use W/RW to buffer through his ult, cancel his Brittle procs, or use E to dodge his W.
Additional Informations
He’s only really scary in team fights because of his R engage. He also helps his team scale better with his Masterwork upgrades and the % bonus HP, armor, and MR he gains for each one. However, this shouldn’t matter too much as long as you create a gold lead and transition into a strong mid-game to close out the game quickly.
Pantheon
Pantheon 2.8
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Don't get killed early. Avoid his Q poke. Play around his E. Use W against his W. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Early on, avoid as much of his Q poke as possible to prevent him from killing you and snowballing. He is very mana-hungry early. As long as you avoid damage, he will run out of mana before you and be forced to recall. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Whenever Pantheon wants to Q you, use E to block or dodge it, especially if it's empowered.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Use your W to counter Pantheon’s engage (this is easier to react to when he starts from farther away). His empowered W has 2 parts, the dash and the empowered (tripple) auto attack. If he casts an empowered W and immediately follows with the empowered auto attack, keep charging your W to max and trade with him while he is stunned. If he delays the empowered auto and tries to sidestep instead, release your W early and back off.

The matchup becomes easier after getting Chain Vest(s) but gets a little harder again once he gets Black Cleaver (stacks it insanely fast with his E) and more points into R for the armor pen. Level 6+ As long as Pantheon doesn’t have a lead and you have Chain Vest, you can all-in him. He has no ult that helps him in 1v1 fights.
Make sure you wait out his E before engaging or use All Out to dash through him. Charge RW into his face if he tries to stun you with W.
Additional Informations
Ping your team when you expect him to roam with R. Use that time to push waves, get plates, and create a gold and XP lead. If he has Ignite, be extremely cautious early and play around the fact that he has to R back to lane if you push the wave.
Poppy
Poppy 5.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Survive her early bullying until 6. Be careful around walls. Play around her W. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Poppy deals a lot of damage early, and you can't keep up with it, but once you get All Out, you can run her down.
Let her push early and farm safely next to your tower. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Use E to block her passive poke damage and destroy the buckler if possible.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Avoid getting hit by both parts of her Q, and trade with Q when she walks up to last hit. Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Using W aggressively can be difficult if she reacts with her own W, making your W useless. You can use E+W against her W (dash into her W with E and cast W during the E dash, allowing the E dash to soak her W proc while W prevents the knock-up).
(alt.) Rush Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
Before all-inning with All Out, make sure she can’t use E on a minion to escape or on you to stun you at a wall.
You can easily avoid her R by charging W/RW. If her W is on cooldown, you are guaranteed to hit a max charge because her R cast animation forces her to stand still. You can also dodge her R last second with E if you need W/RW to prevent her from stunning you with E. Use R to cancel her E if needed or cancel her R channel completely. Additional Informations
Once Poppy has Heartsteel and goes for a proc on you, all-in him or force a trade onto him. Don’t let her get stacks for free.
Quinn
Quinn 2.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Wait for her missposition. Pay attention to her roams. Predict her E with W channel. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Early on, she will bully you, but the matchup becomes heavily K’Sante-favored once you get some armor. Find patterns in how she uses her E when you’re on top of her (does she use it instantly, or does she go for passive procs first?).
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Wait for her to walk up to an allied minion and engage using E onto it. Hold W to react to her E and cancel her knockback, allowing you to dash into her during her dash for a max stun W. This is easier if you aren’t directly on top of her. If you are on top of her, it depends more on prediction. If she consistently uses E the second you E in, use E > W. Otherwise, use E > Q and then W when you expect her to E.
Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > finish Iceborn Gauntlet
Use E against her passive proc or when she tries to proc Press the Attack/Electrocute.
(optional) Plated Steelcaps, Warden's Mail
Once you have armor, you can run her down consistently. Eventually, she won’t even be able to damage you. Quinn can't itemize against Armor early on.
Level 6+
Getting level 6 doesn’t change much since Quinn has no real combat R. All Out just makes it easier to kill her. Second Wind and Biscuit Delivery allow you to survive her early poke consistently until you are able to buy Chain Vest(s).
If you have enough armor to ignore her damage, push waves and force Demolish procs. This also prevents her from roaming freely and allows you to kidnap her out of her tower.
Additional Informations
Watch for her roams and ping your team when you expect her to leave. Be wary of how fast she moves around the map with her R.
Rek\'Sai
Rek\'Sai 7
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Heavily relies on health management and blocking her knock-ups with W. Look for all-in windows if she uses her E tunnel and can't use it or another tunnel to escape. Initiate short trades with W.
Rek'Sai 7
Aftershock/Grasp Demolish Conditioning/Second Wind Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Matchup can be tricky due to Rek'Sai's passive sustain. She generates 25 Fury whenever she hits you, which is reduced against minions (except for her unborrow and unborrowed E). You want to avoid letting her attack you as much as possible and trades aren't worth it if you let her build up Fury to heal up again. Prioritize short trades leading with W and disengage once the stun runs out.
Let Rek'Sai push early. Any trades are pointless because your damage is too low, and she can heal it up once she reaches level 2. You can get some poke with Q, but only go for the passive proc when it's free.
Trading / Fighting
Her trading pattern mainly relies on her W knock-up when burrowed. She can combo really quickly during the knock-up and easily get full Fury in 4 hits. Time W to prevent the knock-up and trade back during the Secondary Rune Path(s) stun, leaving early enough so she can't attack you again. Even if you don't time it properly for the knock-up, you still deny her the trade, just make sure she can't use a tunnel to get onto you again.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Stand behind minions to prevent her burrowed Q damage and to deny her Fury.
If she walks up to auto-attack you or wastes her unborrow on minions, initiate a short trade with W. Use E against her unborrowed E (the bite deals more damage and True Damage if her Fury bar is maxed. Be wary of it if she has 75% Fury, since she can auto-attack into E very fast). Recommended Items
If she at any point uses her unborrowed Q to attack your tower, walk close to her. Her Q becomes an AoE around her, drawing tower aggro. Lock her down with CC and look for a kill. Bramble Vest + Chain Vest > finish
Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
Once level 6, trade more aggressively and look for kill windows. Try to keep R until she wastes her tunnel or if she wastes her burrow, giving you a ~4-second window. You can use R to cancel her tunnel once she uses it (make sure you don't use R too early; she has a very short CC immunity window at the very beginning of the animation).
Play safe early until you get 1-2 components. Hold RW to prevent her unborrow knock-up or once she uses R on you (aim backward from the direction she ults from).
Additional Informations
Check her tunnel cooldown by clicking on her and checking for the icon on her tooltip. Be especially careful once she finishes Titanic Hydra. Her trading pattern becomes a lot faster and won't leave you enough time to E her True Damage Bite. Use it preemptively if you can't W the knock-up.
Riven
Riven 5.3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play safe early. Let her initiate trades. Find her trading patterns and don't die early. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Riven players vary in skill and build choices.
Identify her trade patterns and play around her cooldowns. Let her initiate trades early to find openings. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
If she uses W early or Q3s onto you, charge W into her, take a short trade, and disengage with E. If she doesn’t Q3 in, disengage quickly after W to avoid taking too much damage.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Many Riven players buffer W after a Q3 engage. Walk slightly away during/after her Q3 to get out of W range, then punish her after dodging the stun. Recommended Items
2x Chain Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
Look for trades when her E and W are down, holding W for when she Q3s in.
Riven’s kit lacks tools to deal with tanks, so she relies on Black Cleaver. Buying two Chain Vests is very cheap and lets you play aggressively before she finishes her first item.
Level 6+
Wait for her to waste W and E before using All Out. This makes chasing much easier. Once you have some armor, force Demolish procs and bait her into jumping on you to kidnap her. Stack Q3 before crashing the wave (or if there’s an enemy wave under tower), hit the tower and wait for her engage, soak damage with W, move her to a wall with Q3, and R through it. She very likely wasted all of her cooldowns at this point, making escaping almost impossible. Even if you don’t kill her, you’ll deal enough damage for her to lose lane priority.
Additional Informations
Avoid extended fights if she gets Black Cleaver first, and prevent her from frequent short trades if she goes Eclipse first.
Rumble
Rumble 4.8
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Keep your wave near tower, save E for his E poke, don't fight when your resists are shredded. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Rumble is a pretty annoying early bully, avoid this by standing inside your minion wave, this is so if he q's you he pushes the wave in the process.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Rumble is fairly immobile, however he will chunk you pretty heavily if you ult him with his abilities up, once his Shield and E/Q are on cooldown, you should be able tio all in him with ult and win
Level 6+
Rumble will typically play very aggressive early on, Biscuits and Second Wind help you sustain his early power.
Additional Informations
Avoid fighting in narrow spaces or start Baron/Dragon if Rumble has his R available.
Ryze
Ryze 2.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Avoid his E>Q combo with E. Play around his Phaserush cooldown. Aftershock Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Keep the wave near your tower and play safe early until you get Negatron Cloak. Dodge his E>Q trades with E, or he will chunk you a lot. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Keep some distance from the wave whenever he uses E on it, since the damage spreads and can hit you as well. Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Whenever he walks up to an ally minion, engage with E+W but keep the trade short before disengaging. This is a lot easier whenever his Phase Rush is on cooldown, as he can’t chase you down or kite you. Phase Rush isn’t much of an issue near your tower.
Recommended Items
Try to find patterns in his W uses (He needs an E debuff on you for the snare). See if he uses the snare after you dodge his Q's or if he leads with it if you engage. Once you find a pattern, use W to buffer through it. Rush Kaenic Rookern > Iceborn Gauntlet
(alt) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet > finish Kaenic Rookern
Go the alt. build path if you create a lead
Level 6+
When looking for an engage, make sure his Phase Rush is on cooldown. He’s pretty easy to kill after that. Keep using E against his E+Q combo and use RW if he tries to snare you with his W or when he tries to combo you by spamming abilities (he has to stand still, guaranteeing a fully charged RW). His only escape outside of Phase Rush is his ultimate, but make sure you either kill him before it goes off or cancel it by hitting Q3.
Likes to build scaling item with health and won't really be able to deal with you for a while after you get Kaenic Rookern.
Sett
Sett 1.6
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Respect his early. Keep the wave near your tower. Find patterns in his E uses. Start W if he plays hyper aggressive level 1. Aftershock Demolish + Bone Plating + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Keep the wave near your tower, and he won’t be able to force you into extended fights.
Try to find patterns in his E usage. He can either walk up, trying to hit you, or just wait for you to get close. Try to bait it out consistently, and he won’t be able to do much other than running at you to trade, in which Secondary Rune Path(s) case you just zone him with Qs. Once his E is on cooldown, play more aggressively, but use Q to zone him if he tries to run at you for Q trades.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Sett players try to zone you from minions at level 1. If he tries, start W, charge into him, and disengage after an auto. Even if you only tap W, he can’t do much through Aftershock’s armor and Bone Plating. While the wave is near your tower, wait for him to try to E you, then use Q3 (buffer it through his E stun) + W to knock him into your tower, but make sure to dodge the fully charged Grit W he can stack with tower shots. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
Make sure he won’t be able to E you and a minion for the extended stun. Look for trades whenever his E is on cooldown.
2x Chain Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
(alt.) Rush Iceborn Gauntlet
You can also use Q3 to knock him over you if he charges W into your face or use E to dash behind him.
(optional) Warden's Mail, Plated Steelcaps
Level 6+
Try to get him under your tower using All Out, but make sure you position in a way that his R won’t allow him to get out of range. Use RW to prevent him from dragging you with him using his R (this needs some coordination). This can snowball if you can't set up a kill earlier.
Additional Informations
Double components are safer. Iceborn Gauntlet rush is prediction, but Sett players usually use it as fast as possible to escape the tower). Make sure to dodge his W true damage, and he shouldn’t be an issue. You can also use R to dash behind him once he uses W.
Shen
Shen 2
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Play safe early and let him push. Don't get cheesed by his empowered Q and level 2 all-in. Punish him for using R. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Unflinching
Laning Overview
Play safe early and let him push the wave.
Pay attention to the location of his Spirit Blade. The buff he gets if the Blade travels through you makes his trades really dangerous. He can often kill you within the first few levels if he gets to fight you a few times Secondary Rune Path(s) with it.
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Shen players usually want to E behind you if they engage, to guarantee that the Blade travels through you for a stronger trade. You can aim W behind you to buffer through the taunt duration of his E while reducing the incoming damage from his empowered Q. This can also help you position him in a spot that allows you to fight back or all-in him after or throw him under your tower.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Poke him with Qs and try to procc your passive when he attacks minions or has no Q charges. Recommended Items
Look for trades between his Passive cooldown. Trading will be a lot easier if his W is on cooldown or if you push him out of the area once he uses it.
Null-Magic Mantle > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
For engages, make sure his E isn’t up to prevent him from escaping. You can also cancel his E dash with Q3 and R.
Shen wants to look for plays around the map with his R. Just because you can cancel his channel doesn’t mean you should cancel it every time. The shield applies instantly once he starts channeling, and you want to look at the fight to determine if his presence could lead to additional kills or if your team starts to disengage. Letting his channel go through can be devastating if you have a stacked minion wave and want to crash it into his tower (he loses all the CS, and you get free access to plates).
(alt.) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet
Negatron Cloak makes lane a lot safer compared to Null-Magic Mantle, but delays Iceborn Gauntlet.
If you have to cancel his R channel with W, be very careful since you will be in a very vulnerable spot if he decides to re-engage on you. For engages, make sure his E isn’t up to prevent him from escaping. You can also cancel his E with Q3 and R.
Iceborn Gauntlet helps creating a lead in lane by forcing him into fights with All Out. Additional Informations
Shen can be a strong map presence and can help his team scale with global ult. Ensure proper warding to spot roams.
Singed
Singed 2
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Avoid Poison. Play around his E mindgames. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Let Singed push early with his poison and farm safely near your tower.
Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Make sure you don’t stand in his poison for too long. Whenever Singed tries to trade, he walks up to E you, which can be very predictable. You can cancel the fling with W or kite back with Qs, but he can also pretend like he wants to E you, adding a layer of mind games. Once you W his E, you win any trade easily. (optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Recommended Items
If he tries to E you into his W puddle, make sure to cancel his E with W. If he throws his W puddle at you, you can buffer it with W by casting it before his W hits the ground, so your W dash won’t get canceled by the grounded effect. Rush Kaenic Rookern
(alt.) Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet
Kaenic Rookern rush is safer. Go Negatron > Iceborn Gauntlet if you are ahead or if you want to snowball. Level 6+ All-inning him can be annoying because of his R movement speed, his W puddle, and his ability to use E on you to create distance, but he isn’t really threatening. Try to bait out his W or E before engaging, or all-in him when he tries to E you.
Second Wind and Doran’s Shield help deal with his poison early, but you should still avoid standing in it if possible.
Additional Informations
Prevent him from proxy farming. If he tries to move through your tower, push the minions out of it or prevent the wave from crashing in the first place. If he is able to get past you, counter-proxy on his T2 or T3 tower and recall. This buys you time to make sure he won't be able to proxy the wave you walk to lane with.
Trundle
Trundle 2.5
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Avoid extended fights. Kite him/disengage during his R. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Bone plating + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Avoid extended fights.
Let him push the wave and keep it near the tower to prevent him from fighting you. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
Trade with Q+AA whenever he has to last-hit a minion. Don't let him Q you on repeat in return to your poke.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Avoid fighting inside his W zone or use E>W to soak his auto-attack damage and charge into him to waste some time off his W duration while he is stunned. Go for a short trade before disengaging. Recommended Items
Bramble Vest > Iceborn Gauntlet
His pillar can be annoying to deal with. If you try to W him from some distance, he can place it between you, blocking your W path. If he uses it to prevent you from escaping, use E on an allied minion to get out of the slow field and avoid his trade.
(optional) Warden's Mail, Plated Steelcaps
Level 6+
Once he uses R on you, disengage and wait it out. Don't try to fight because his R will steal your resists, which reduces your damage and Q cooldown while making you very squishy. Once youre comfortable with the matchup, you can access Second Wind/Conditioning. If Trundle is low and you know you can kill him despite him having R, aim to use All Out before he uses his R. All Out puts your base armor into the negative and reduces the stats Trundle is able to steal from you.
Additional Informations
His wave clear isn't good early, but he wants to go for Ravenous Hydra first. This also makes it harder to poke him down, and you want to play more around extended trades or all-ins after baiting out his R by pretending to go for an all-in (don't commit with R). Extended fights aren't an issue once you have armor and can stack-check him.
Olaf
Go (alt.) Build Path if you are able to create a lead
in lane and the additional safety from Thornmail isn't needed.
Ornn

Zac
Zac 3
Recommended Runes
Short Version
Deny as many blobs as possible to prevent his healing. Avoid getting hit by his Q or use W in response. Aftershock/Grasp Demolish + Second Wind + Overgrowth
Laning Overview
Zac isn't stronger than you during the early lane. His entire gimmick is baiting you into extended fights while he tries to outheal your damage.
Look to freeze the wave near your tower, denying him the option to create blobs on minions, push to force plates or proxy. Secondary Rune Path(s)
Biscuit Delivery + Cosmic Insight/Approach Velocity
Trading / Fighting
During trades, focus on stepping onto his blobs. This prevent his healing and W cooldown refund. That way he will never win those trades. Use your Q3 knock-up and Q3+W stun to buy you time to step on blobs.
(optional) Sudden Impact + Ultimate Hunter
Hold your W for his Q to block the displacement and stun. It also creates 2 blobs if you don't block it and gives him some time to collect his blobs. If you don't have W, sidestep it instead.
Recommended Items
Sidestep or use W to block his E knock-up once he tries to engage for a gank.
Negatron Cloak > Iceborn Gauntlet
Level 6+
All-in's are free if his E is on cooldown. You can also use R directly to cancel his E once he tries to charge it as an escape.
Negatron Cloak is enough to deal with his damage. Once he uses R, use W/RW as an buffer through his cc.
Iceborn Gauntlet allows you to control fights easily and you can run him down freely once you cancel his E.
Whenever he decides to E close to your tower, throw him in. You can stand in the hitbox and charge W to do so.
Additional Informations
Zac wants to stack a lot of health and All Out just counters that.
His E is a good engage and he is very disruptive with his Q and R, but he needs to put points into E to get more range.
