Dynamic Friction Method
To determine the coefficient of dynamic friction I use a program made by whisper which uses the data gathered by mousetester. To use the program you push your mouse across the pad, it gathers the velocity curve and calculates the time from max speed to when it stops before running this through a function to calculate the coefficent of friction. This method is not affected by the force applied due to the only thing measured being how the mouse decelerates, where the only force being applied is the friction from the pad.
Viscose's Data
The numbers gathered above are the average result between both mice. All data gathered at low humidity; if the pad is worn it will be notated with (worn), otherwise its new. This ONLY measures dynamic friciton, not static friction and is not completely representative of a pads feel. Values for each mousepad are only useful relative to other mousepads as things like humidity, mouse feet and mouse weight can significantly change the coefficient of friction. Lower values = Faster.

A variation on the standard tilt test The angle is measured using a phone app, the phones location is aligned with the mouse to ensure the angle is accurate The rightmost line substitutes the angle into the coefficient of static friction formula

Additional Observations and Notes
- Data has been adjusted to roughly align static and dynamic friction values for comparison purposes. This helps reduce confusion when glancing at tables that mix data concepts.
- Surface roughness values are subjective and described qualitatively in the dataset notes.
- All pads have less than 1 month of use unless stated otherwise.
- Static friction and dynamic friction cannot be directly compared as they measure different physical phenomena.
