Route 12 can be accessed during Chapter 18 through the Southern Koriko Gate however the only encounter you can obtain on this first visit is Tartot (D) via traversing south along the beach. The rest of the encounters can't be obtained until Chapter 22.

If you've managed to find all 20 Data Cables Key Items obtainable thus far you can turn them in to a scientist in Eastcliff. Once you do so you will be rewarded with a Druddigon
After the Major Story Events in Arlen you can head to Avaros and enter Frostborne Clearing, upon doing so you will hear a Pokemons cry. By traversing through to the back of the clearing you will encounter Eris' Lapras, where it will battle you. Upon victory you will fittingly recieve Lapras at Level 30. As well as be granted the ability to surf.
Once you have beaten Destiny at the end of Act 2, you can head to Rivera and speak to Marshall's mother, once you do head to the northeast corner of Rivera Woods. Upon winning the fight that takes place by Marshall's grave you will have to choose between pursuing Svetrier (Pink) or Drukknir (Gray). You will be able to locate the Pokemon chosen in Illusi Forest.

Finally, head up to where you fought Darreth atop Mt.Fueterre and you will be able to encounter and catch Griflet.
Upon completing the current story of Version 4.0. You can head to Lavendam Market whereupon you can complete the Side Quest: Trickster. Completion of the quest will reward you with a Pachirisu
