Setting Up
1. Start with 1 young adult founder Sim
2. Dress your Sim to match their color theme and assigned vegetable
3. Use the assigned traits and aspiration for Generation 1 (Broccoli) when creating your Sim
4. Choose your own likes/dislikes and other preferences
5. Move to an empty lot of your choice
6. Cheat your households funds to $0 (cheats: \"testingcheats on\" \"money 0\")
General Rules
1. To complete the Very Veggie Legacy Challenge play through 10 full generations and complete all listed goals for each Sim
2. All listed careers and aspirations must be completed, alongside all additional listed rules
3. If you are missing a required trait or career, substitute with a similar feature from another pack you own or swap with the Base Game Version that I’ve written
4. You may move to other neighborhoods and other lots in the future once your Sim can afford to do so
5. Avoid using money cheats and other gameplay cheats
6. The primary goal of this challenge is to have fun, goofy gameplay. None of these rules are set in stone, and please feel free to adjust them to fit your own personal style or own personal needs. I won’t be offended if you swap something out, or if you decide to use money cheats. Consider this more of a guideline. I’m simply writing the rules as I intend to play them.
Selecting Heirs
Your founder Sim will have children, and you will choose one of those children as your heir to become the next vegetable.
The next generation officially “begins” once you complete the rules of the previous generation and the heir has become a young adult
There are no specific rules for who must become the heir. Some people prefer organized methods for selecting the heir (for example: the first born child), but others tend to pick based on vibes. It’s up to you!
Challenge Overview
You’ve heard of the Not So Berry Challenge… now get ready for the Very Veggie Legacy Challenge.
This is a silly follow-up to the Not So Berry challenge that my friend alwaysimming and I wrote back in 2017. Last year my Twitch community raised over $600,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and during the fundraiser I promised to write a new legacy challenge as a charity incentive. When starting to write the challenge I knew I wanted it to follow a similar format to Not So Berry, but maybe just a little goofier. Then Lovestruck came out and I saw that eggplant costume… and inspiration struck. Now I have written a ridiculous vegetable themed legacy challenge. Welcome to the Very Veggie Legacy Challenge.
I am often asked about writing extensions to Not So Berry, or about making adjustments to incorporate features from newer packs. I don’t personally have intentions to ever change Not So Berry much from how it was originally written. It is already 10 generations long, and I think it would be impractical to extend it further. I’m also really happy with the existing rules, and I think that they’re a product of their time. Rather than replace existing rules, I would rather keep them as they were originally intended and create something completely new. The Not So Berry challenge has taken on a life of its own in the past few years, and I feel that it belongs to the community now. Other people have already written extended editions and base game versions, and for me to change anything would take away from what Not So Berry has become. Instead, we turn to vegetables.
Much like Not So Berry, this is a color based challenge. Instead of basic color themes, each generation is themed after a different vegetable. It is recommended to theme your Sim, their outfits, and their home around the vegetable they are inspired by. For example, I would have the Carrot generation wear all orange and live in an orange house.
This is a “rags to riches” style legacy challenge, so you must start on an empty lot with $0. Create your Sim and move them to any lot of your choice, and then cheat all of their money away. You must start from scratch. You will grow your home and your family from nothing, much like a seed grows from the dirt.

The Very Veggie Legacy Challenge was written by me, but inspired by the original Not So Berry challenge that I wrote back in 2017 with my friend alwaysimming.
The artwork for this challenge was created by my friend Risshella. I have uploaded it here to a Google Drive for you, and you are welcome to download it and use it in your content or thumbnails. If you do use Risshella’s artwork please be sure to credit her appropriately.
Please use #VeryVeggie or #VeryVeggieLegacy on the Gallery when sharing your creations!
You can also view a Google Doc version of the rules here if it is easier for you to read.
You can follow me on Twitch to watch my playthrough of this challenge live, or watch the streams after I have reuploaded them to YouTube on moresimsie.
Note
**Some of these generations are technically fruits, but I would argue that they are vegetables culturally. Please do not attack me for including tomatoes in the vegetable challenge. While botanically tomatoes are fruits, they are often used in savory dishes and are therefore considered vegetables in a culinary context.
*I am actively testing this challenge on stream and playing through it for the first time, so I would not consider it “officially” finished. All of the rules are subject to change and be adjusted, and it is not fully play tested yet.
Generation 1: Vegetables
Spend a lot of time outside staring at the sky. You notice the way sunlight filters through leaves. You hear how the wind sings. You watch the sky paint a picture every night at sunset. Nature is beautiful, and you want to capture it. You become an artist, and dedicate your life to honing your craft and sharing it with others.
Generation 2: Eggplant
Everyone won’t shut up about romance. All day every day you have to listen to weird suggestive eggplant jokes, people complaining about their partners, or even worse: them going on and on about their happy little relationships. You’re sick of it! Love is dead, and you’re going to prove it. You decide your life goal is to ruin as many relationships as possible. Well, at least when you’re off the clock. Relationship saver by day, relationship ruiner by night.
Generation 3: Carrot
Your parents weren’t exactly great role models for love, and you’ ve always struggled with human connection. You long for someone who will accept you, won’t judge you, and will love you for who you are. In your hunt for companionship, you find someone who loves carrots unconditionally: a horse. You devote your life to caring for and raising your horses, and become a championship horse rider.
Generation 4: Squash
You grew up in a small town on a farm, and you always dreamed of getting away and moving on to bigger and better things. You know you are destined for greatness, and you are determined to never have your dreams squashed. You care deeply about success, and you will do anything in your power to get it.
Generation 5: Potato
You never really minded dirt, and you don’t see why anyone else would either. It’s honestly kind of offensive that people are so dramatic about always wanting a “clean house” with “functional appliances” and “no mold.” As a landlord, you don’t worry about any of these things! The tenants can just deal with it. You love to dumpster dive, befriend dust bunnies, and live in filth, and you absolutely NEVER clean.
Generation 6: Tomato
It’s hard growing up as a tomato in a world of veggies. You’re different from your family. Nobody takes you seriously. People keep pointing out that you contain seeds, and that you grow from the flower of the tomato plant so you can’t possibly be a vegetable like the rest of them. Well, whatever! You’ll show them growing flowers! You decide to become a florist, and you will spend your life trying to prove to yourself to everyone around you.
Generation 7: Cauliflower
You come from a long line of vegetables, and you are fascinated by your family’s history. So fascinated that you think you start seeing… ghosts? But that can’t be true! Ghosts aren’t real? …right? Your fascination turns into an obsession, and you devote your life to the macabre all while not being fully sure if you even believe in any of it.
Generation 8: Radish
You grew up in a house full of death, and now you can’t help but feel chased by it. It doesn’t help that all your hobbies are a little bit dangerous. Just stay away from poison and try not to fall off a mountain. You’ll be fine! Constantly being surrounded by death taught you to live life to the fullest, and instilled within you a deep desire for adventure. The sky’s the limit… literally!
Generation 9: Mushroom
Considering how your entire family is literally full of vegetables it’s kind of shocking how little any of your ancestors seemed to care about the environment. Your parents traveled the world and took you with them, and now you care deeply about protecting the planet for future generations.
Generation 10: Pea
Most peas are destined to spend their lives stuffed in the back corner of a freezer, forgotten about. That life was never meant for you. You crave the spotlight. You are a pea of many talents, and you will make yourself unforgettable.
