Introduction
These sets are supposed to give you a basic idea of the templates to follow once you’ve reached the endgame. They’re based on what’s generally practical for most hunts, and the descriptions will give ideas on how to adjust them based on different needs. This document is split into tabs, the primary one here being basics and the other ones providing more comprehensive details and explanation. If you’re interested in reading, refer to the other tabs.
Refer to the full Written Guide Insect Glaive for Dummies (Wilds) - Google Docs for other gameplay details.
Rarity 8 Artian Weapons are the endgame ideal weapons to aim for in pretty much every case, however rely on you going through gacha rolls to acquire upgrades for them. Craftable picks will be mentioned.

Kinsect:
(These screenshots show the kinsect with Fire due to being taken while equipped with a Fire glaive.)
Blunt kinsects are usually preferred for the ability to easily net KOs. Sever kinsects only gain a small 1.1x kinsect attack multiplier.
MHWilds | Kiranico | Monster Hunter Wilds Database
Kinsects with “Kinsect Boost: Harvest Extract” like Foebeetle are a common choice due to being able to gather up to 3 extracts during charged shots and Rising Spiral Slash, though typically lack the best possible stats.
- Mauldrone → Foebeetle
- Mauldrone → Ladytarge → Arkmaiden
- Mauldrone → Gullshad
Foebeetle is the generalist damage choice, Arkmaiden has Fast Charge, and Gullshad is the fastest triple gather.
Kinsects like Whispervesp sacrifice the triple gathering bonus in order to have better stats. Whispervesp has the highest speed and Fast Charge, whereas Carnage Beetle has the highest power and Kinsect Combo: Element.
- Mauldrone → Gullshad → Whispervesp
- Mauldrone → Foebeetle → Carnage Beetle
These kinsects can be preferred if you are confident with extract gathering or the matchup disfavors triple gathering, but are less common overall. Their other bonuses (Powder/Stamina) are irrelevant.
OMG kinsect is horrible. It has Powder/Weak-point Focus bonuses, low power with high speed/stamina, and is severing type. It will never see efficient use.
Raw Set Overview:
Artian Weapons:
All Artian Weapons can have any status or element on them. Blast or Paralysis are general common choices, but actual elements will win out for any respective element matchup. Refer to the details tab for more.
Best general Artian Weapon rolls are: 4x Attack 1x Sharpness, or 3x Attack 2x Sharpness. Always craft weapons with 3x Attack parts. Always use 3 of the same element or status pieces.
Generally the priority for Artian Weapon augments (from highest to lowest) is: 1-2 Sharpness > Attack >> Affinity >>> Element.
Non-Artian Weapons:
- Blazing Katir (Zoh Shia)
- This weapon is generally applicable as the best raw craftable weapon.
With TU3 this is still a general usage craftable pick, especially when solo.
Other weapons have value as craftables too, but for specific purposes. See other tabs.
See the details tab for other weapons and descriptions.
RNG Talismans:
See the details tab for more info and RNG charm sets. You need near perfect options for RNG charms to be usable at all.
Generally aim for strict upgrade R5/R6 talismans as the easiest ones to acquire, but perfect R7/8s can be stronger in many cases.

[OMEGA]:
Savage Omega gear is relevant to some extent for IG, but the set bonus is a multiplayer (including AI hunter) exclusive bonus that does nothing in solo play.
Due to this, it will only be shown on its specific tab and not elsewhere in the document.
The Omega IG is the best craftable fire weapon, though it’s not beating Artian outside of possible scenarios of multiplayer reliance on the shared Affinity it grants.
The new 4th tab of the document will have everything related to Omega and sets with it.

Non-LP:
Non-LP sets remain as the weakest output option sets to aim for using, but still
get improved with AT Nu Udra gear regardless as they are able to adopt a template closer to the old Partial LP thanks to the AT Nu Udra chest piece. The chest is likely the only AT Nu Udra piece to see common use for IG, as others have Resentment and high Burst levels.
The advantage of this set compared to the Low LP is that it is able to fit 2 more size 1 slots as well as fitting Earplugs 2 for any strong roar matchups (Jin Dahaad, Zoh Shia, Gravios, and Gore Magala’s frenzy enrage) along with consistency on normal matchups. However it’s still not entirely necessary for normal matchups since Insect Glaive still gains a free point of Earplugs during Triple Up.
Leviathan’s Fury (Lagia 2p) is shown at 33% uptime.
Set Adjustments:
- Old Non-LP Sets
- The old Non-LP Lord’s Soul template still works fine, and is stronger if needing to drop Counterstrike for any reason.
- Here is a reference of it.
- Here is the old non-LP Gore set.
- Agitator 5
- It’s possible to drop the Lagia 2p bonus, a point of Earplugs, and a size 1 slot to gain Agitator 5 by using Omega gloves and AT Rey helm.
- The current variant is shown for Earplugs 2 flexibility for matchups that need it, and can also drop the Earplugs point for anything else like Ambush / Evade Window.
- Partial LP
- This set template is the same as the old Partial LP template if it swaps back to AT Rey chest for the 3 levels of LP.
- Doing this can help if you need to drop Counterstrike for the matchup, but otherwise it has to sacrifice other skills to fit Counterstrike 3
- The set can also simply swap charms to Latent Power 3 for a Partial LP variant, but it won’t have the Rey 2p +30s duration.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Low LP:
A new possible variation of “Non-LP” sets thanks to the AT Nu Udra chest. The chest is likely the only AT Nu Udra piece to see common use for IG, as others have Resentment and high Burst levels.
Compared to the old Lord’s Soul variant, this is able to effectively trade 1 level of Maximum Might for the last level of Agitator which is a marginal gain depending on uptimes of the two skills. It also comes with the Lagia 2p set bonus and a Latent Power point, which will naturally help with Affinity even if their uptimes are unreliable.
Counterstrike 3 is favored over Maximum Might 3 due to it helping CS uptime (+10s duration) along with the +10 Attack, but both are similar in output with MM being slightly ahead so it will ultimately depend on uptimes between the two.
Even with only 20% uptime on Latent Power this set will beat the Non-LP sets, but it won’t be able to fit Earplugs 2 as smoothly.
With 33% uptime on Lagia 2p and 50% uptime on LP it’s better to have Lagia greaves here over the 3rd point of Maximum Might/Counterstrike (Dahaad legs) even with permanent CS uptime.
Leviathan’s Fury (Lagia 2p) is shown at 33% uptime.
Set Adjustments:
- Agitator 5 vs Maximum Might 3
- These final skill levels are generally similar in value, so it will depend on uptimes between them.
- Jin Dahaad Legs B
- Jin Dahaad legs B can be used in order to actually fit MM3, however it sacrifices the Lagia 2p bonus and the extra LP level which together end up winning out even with relatively low uptimes on both.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Full LP:
Full LP sets sacrifice Weakness Exploit or Gore/Lagia 2p to instead rely primarily on Latent Power for Affinity. This new variant exists thanks to the AT Nu Udra chest piece which allows it to be slightly more efficient than older full LP sets. The chest is likely the only AT Nu Udra piece to see common use for IG, as others have Resentment and high Burst levels.
The set also gains Zoh 2p on top, though the regeneration is not too significant. Elemental Absorption is also not significant.
Compared to the TU3 Low LP set this set starts winning at around 70% LP uptime which can be quite high, but that’s also assuming Weakness Exploit’s default bonus is always active (i.e. hitting good zones.) This set also fits Earplugs 2 whereas the other does not, so trading the Earplugs level for more Burst or Adrenaline Rush 1 pushes the LP uptime equaling percentage lower.
Set Adjustments:
- Other LP options:
- Here is a variant with AT Nu Udra chest that is able to fit Lagia 2p and many more size 1 slots, but sacrifices a point of Latent Power and the Rey 2p +30s LP duration due to using AT Uth legs; its output is nearly identical to the shown version leaning slightly higher with less LP uptime, though also can’t fit another 3 slot deco for Earplugs 1.
- Here is the version shown as the RNG charm alternate, but with Craftable charm for comparison; it trades Zoh 2p and the Earplugs 2 size 3 slot for more size 1 slots/skills thanks to Uth legs; this can also trade the gloves to Omega.
- Here is the old 4p AT Rey variant that sacrifices output and flexibility for the most generous +90s LP duration; this generally isn’t too valuable since LP uptime can already be high enough with just the +30s from Rey 2p or even without it.
- Here is one using AT Uth helm that fits 2 Peak Performance levels along with Zoh 2p at the cost of any size 1 slots.
- Earplugs 1:
- This set already fits Earplugs 2 easily and is shown as such, but can easily drop the 2nd level for any other size 3 decoration on matchups where it’s unnecessary.
- AT Uth Duna legs can be used when dropping down to Earplugs 1 to gain Quick Sheathe 3 and 2 more size 1 slots, though it will also cost the Zoh 2p regeneration (which is not too significant.)
- AT Nu Udra gloves can be used to drop to Earplugs 1 and lose the Rey 2p bonus for 3 points of Resentment and 2 size 1 slots.
- Resentment:
- Resentment sets are primarily shown on the 3rd tab due to their extremely niche nature (oilwell map,) but can be much stronger when properly used.
- Here is a craftable charm variant of an LP-Resentment set. Others are shown on the 3rd tab.

RNG Talismans (continued):
- RNG Charm sets (Non-LP / Low LP / Full LP) are discussed with emphasis on R8, R7, R6 variants and slot allocation.
- The comparisons detail uptime thresholds for Latent Power and Agitator, and how external buffs can alter the value of specific skills.
- Partial LP and other variants are discussed with respect to crafting options, slot counts, and synergy with other skills.

Kinsect:
IG nearly always uses Blunt kinsects now in Wilds since Sever kinsects only gain a small 1.1x kinsect attack multiplier and you are easily able to get a KO on monsters via kinsect combo, but if you aren’t planning for a KO anyways then sever kinsects will nearly always deal more damage.
- Arkmaiden/Foebeetle/Gullshad (Fiddlebrix/Alucanid/Windchopper, severing mirrors)
These kinsects have Kinsect Boost: Harvest Extract which allows them to gather up to 3 extracts during any charged shot or during Rising Spiral Slash. This can significantly aid when gathering extracts, which is something Wilds IG needs to be doing quite a lot thanks to the aforementioned attack.
Arkmaiden has Fast Charge and Foebeetle/Gullshad have Weak Point Focus with Foebeetle having higher power and Gullshad having higher speed.
Kinsect Boost: Harvest Extract will also grant these kinsects boosted damage for default harvest extract attacks.
- Whispervesp (Pseudocath, severing mirror)
The fastest blunt kinsect in the game, which unfortunately also loses triple gathering bonus similarly to Carnage Beetle.
If Speed is the only ultimate priority for gathering then this bug exists, but it also has lower damage stats than Carnage Beetle and doesn’t have Kinsect Combo: Element.
It also comes with Fast Charge similar to Arkmaiden.
- Carnage Beetle (Monarch Alucanid, severing mirror)
Carnage Beetle is likely the highest damage output option in the game for kinsect combo due to Kinsect Combo: Element.
Since it no longer has Kinsect Boost: Harvest Extract it won’t be able to grab all 3 extracts in 1 charge shot, or during Rising Spiral.
It’s likely far more niche than the previous kinsects, but can see relevant usage for higher damage.
Raw Set Overview:
Non-Artian Weapons:
Craftable weapons typically use Crit Boost 4 and Airborne 1 (Crit Jewel 3 / Flight Jewel 2 / Crit Jewel 1) for weapon decorations. This could change slightly with weapon skills on RNG talismans.
Similarly to Artian Weapons, since many weapons are close to each other in raw Attack the minor element on top ends up being considered. You will still prioritize the raw Attack for efficient damage rather than caring about the element output.
The strongest general craftable weapon:
- Blazing Katir (Zoh Shia) – Craftable Dragon
- TU1 brought a new craftable weapon with much more powerful stats that can almost rival Artian Weapons. It also comes with a unique damage skill that provides 50 flat damage procs roughly every 6 seconds of attacking.
- Whiteflame Torrent is also prevented from applying to specific attacks like Descending Slash and Rising Spiral Slash, similar to Flayer.
- This weapon effectively simulates a 3 Attack 2 Sharpness augmented Artian Dragon weapon that loses 1 level of Crit Boost, 1 level of Critical Eye/Attack Boost/Handicraft (from Airborne deco,) and 13 base Dragon element in order to gain the fixed damage skill.
Some other weapons include:
- True Omega’s Rod (Savage Omega) – Craftable Fire
- TU3 “superboss” Savage Omega does come with a craftable IG as one of the very few weapons introduced with the update; it’s similar to the old Guardian Rathalos weapon in case you need one outside of Omega, though that one is on the weakest end of usable craftable weapons.
- This weapon has a unique skill that gives everyone around you +15% Affinity for 45 seconds after using Rising Spiral Slash, which should be happening frequently given it’s the strongest attack in the mainline franchise and a centralized part of IG’s gameplay.
- The weapon skill is additionally buffed to +25% Affinity and 60s duration if the Savage Omega 4 piece bonus is used.
- See the OMEGA tab for more info, but this weapon has more benefits in multiplayer as expected.
- Curved Naganagi (Mizutsune) – Craftable Water
- TU1’s other weapon from Mizutsune is still a usable craftable pick, being very similar to other high Affinity craftable weapons.
- Its unique weapon skill Slicked Blade was indirectly buffed by the August 12th patch that changed Mizu 2p to now self-inflict Bubbleblight, but it will still be less consistent than other Affinity options.
- Water or ice now has the generally worst options for craftable weapons.
- Fractal Glaive Boltgia (Lagiacrus) – Craftable Thunder
- TU2’s thunder pick is easily the best craftable thunder weapon; Lagiacrus weapons come with a skill that converts 40% of your thunder resistance stat into true element, leading to a massively large element output on top of a weapon that already has solid raw/sharpness stats.
- It will generally lose to Artian Weapons on relevant endgame thunder matchups like Seregios and Uth Duna since they don’t have stellar thunder zones, but for cases like specifically Uth’s veil hitzones being highly element favored, it could win out.
- Immaculate Blizzard (Blangonga) – Craftable Ice
- Significantly lower affinity than other picks, but a sky high 230 Attack along with 50 units of white sharpness makes it a potential option, especially when using external sources of Affinity like Corrupted Mantle.
- Has minor ice element and Focus 3.
- Water or ice now has the generally worst options for craftable weapons.
Many other craftable weapons are similar to these with either worse innate skills, or slightly weaker stats. Weapons that have natural blue sharpness aren’t good.
All of these will be worse than Zoh Shia as a general solo usage craftable weapon.
Artian Weapons:
With Artian Weapons on Insect Glaive, you are generally looking for as much Attack as possible while maintaining a Sharpness baseline that works well enough. Oftentimes this will result in at least 1 Sharpness augment, as 0 Sharpness augments would require a perfect R8 RNG charm to fit sharpness management while losing other things (and still being tight) or very frequent Whetstone/Whetfish use.
Always forge Artian Weapons with 3 Attack Infusions and 3 of the same element/status.
These weapons also have access to any Element/Status in the game, though in general IG is still prioritizing raw Attack no matter which one is present. Blast and Paralysis statuses are the common recommendation for general use or purely raw matchups like Arkveld, however any element slapped onto Artian Weapons and used on a respective matchup will do more.
Especially with endgame relevant hunts that have absurdly high status thresholds and take longer in the first place, status Artian Weapons are a significant loss over the elemental ones despite IG still prioritizing raw Attack.
Element on Artian Weapons is roughly about 7% of IG’s total damage output for most sets and solid HZVs, but that number is dependent on many factors. It depends on the matchup, but you should always favor using elemental Artian Weapons over status ones where you can. This is still despite the fact that the sets will always prioritize buffing the raw Attack.
Generally the priority for augments (from highest to lowest) is: 1-2 Sharpness > Attack >> Affinity >>> Element
[OMEGA]:
Everything related to Omega and its equipment will be on the new 4th tab.
Savage Omega armor’s bonus is entirely exclusive to Multiplayer gameplay. It has a coin flip for everyone with the bonus at the start of the quest, then relies on you being either “Near” or “Far” from allies during a 90 second period before alternating. The conditionals are slightly more lenient than expected with requiring only 1 ally out of a possible 3 to trigger it, but it will still depend on that along with the RNG coin flip starting phase.
AI Support Hunters do count for this bonus as well if you wish to play in a slightly more controlled environment than SoS hunters, but keep in mind that they still scale health just like normal hunters too.

Non-LP:
Non-LP sets remain as the weakest output option sets to aim for using, but still get improved with AT Nu Udra gear regardless as they are able to adopt a template closer to the old Partial LP thanks to the AT Nu Udra chest piece.

RNG Charms:
- Non-LP RNG Charm: The RNG charm variant of Non-LP has similar tradeoffs to the craftable one. It’s the weakest in possible output, but has access to a large quantity of size 1 slots while fitting Earplugs 2 and not relying on Latent Power. Using Weakness Exploit 5 is better when the comparison is Wex 5 / Agi 4, but for 1 less skill point it’s better to have Agi 5 / Wex 3.
- Low LP RNG Charm: This set uses an R7 3,10,0 charm with 2-0-0 slots. As with most RNG charm sets this is effectively dropping 1 level of Agitator in exchange for Attack Boost, though in this case it’s able to make up another valuable skill point the craftable charm loses. It can also use any other valuable weapon skill like Mind’s Eye or Sharpness depending on matchup.
- Full LP RNG Charm: An RNG charm variant of the Full LP set. Due to it using a 3 point charm (LP3) the set is reworked around using an RNG charm, R7 shown in order to fit Earplugs. This also gains more size 1 slot skills and a free point of Stun Resistance from the gloves. Alternatively the set can drop 1 Agitator level to use an R8 charm with Attack Boost 5, though Agitator will win with over 75% uptime.
- The RNG charm system is complex and heavily dependent on slot management and preferences.
Element:
Element sets (the standard raw sets shown) are likely going to be the strongest option for most matchups, but that is primarily due to most element weapons being strong raw picks themselves while also being similar to each other.
Artian Weapons in particular have almost 0 opportunity cost for running elements on them, despite still favoring raw Attack with augments and sets. Elemental Artian Weapons can be augmented the same way as raw Artian Weapons for most matchups. More details are in the respective document tab.

Resentment:
Resentment is the skill being pushed the most by the AT Nu Udra (and Bale) armor thanks to incredibly efficient pieces. While IG lacks an effect that damages you on attacking like Greatsword’s Darkside or the old Safi armor from Iceborne, if the matchup itself still has a continuous damaging aura (like simply being in a hot area without a Cool Drink) it can be a possibility to have high uptime on the skill.
Nu Udra’s set bonus Bad Blood is incredibly weak as it only provides 0.25hzv / 0.60hzv (2p/4p) fixed damage pops roughly every 5 seconds of attacking with Resentment up. This will end up contributing less than 1% of IG’s total damage even with permanent Resentment uptime, so the set bonus will only ever exist as a side effect to simply using efficient Nu Udra pieces.
Resentment sets may possibly be seen when fighting AT Nu Udra due to its environment. Deep Oilwell Basin fights without using a Cool Drink are the most relevant spots to use sets like these, but they still likely shouldn’t be a common choice.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Resentment Full LP:
If relying on Resentment or Latent Power alone wasn’t enough, it is actually possible to combine both into a cursed abomination that is theoretically IG’s strongest somewhat usable set. It will still be an uptime-dependent hell. Zoh B helm here can also drop the Rey 2p bonus to trade the Wex level for a 3rd Agitator level for marginal gains depending on uptime; it can also trade the LP deco for another Agi level.
PietaMH’s 2 '52 AT Nu Udra run uses a set similar to this but with Omega chest and Nu Udra legs.
This set is using an R8 3,8,5 talisman rather than the standard 3,10 talismans.
The final skill point on it (Group 5) can be any number of single point size 1 slot skills, but is shown as Speed Eating. A charm like this is even more rare than the already unreasonable 3,10 perfect R8 ones, but has more flexibility of which exact skills are rolled. Refer to the details tab for the RNG charm info sheets if you need context on the charm system in Wilds.
Compared to the Resentment Non-LP, this one needs around 65% LP uptime to start beating it.
Compared to the Full LP set without Resentment, 65% Resentment uptime is where it will pull ahead.
Compared to the previous Resentment Full LP, this is stronger at 80% or lower LP uptime, though also loses more with less Agitor uptime
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Resentment Partial LP:
LP Resentment set shown similar to the one used by TKO in his 5’10 AT Nu Udra run. The run specifically uses Focus and Attack Boost over Critical Eye, but as a generalized template Critical Eye is slightly stronger.
Compared to the Resentment Non-LP, this needs around 50% LP uptime to start winning
Compared to the Full LP set without Resentment, 65% Resentment uptime is where it will pull ahead.
Compared to the previous Resentment Full LP, this is stronger at 80% or lower LP uptime, though also loses more with less Agitator uptime
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Resentment Non-LP:
The set does highly value a good R8 RNG charm to fit Critical Eye 5 for Affinity since it is not using Latent Power or high levels of both Weakness Exploit and Agitator. It can alternatively trade Agitator levels for Weakness Exploit levels instead, but as usual the difference between them is very small and primarily comes down to uptimes.
When making this set without an RNG charm it can max either Weakness Exploit or Agitator with similar uptime dependency, but generally suffers a lot by missing Critical Eye either way.
Outside of all of the concerns of relying on Resentment for damage, this set also has the most amount of size 1 slots to fill in with any form of matchup specific or preference related skill.
Anything above 50% Resentment uptime is likely where this set would be usable compared to others, but naturally the more uptime you can get the better it will perform in comparison. It’s mostly between Resentment uptimes vs Latent Power uptimes.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Lagiacrus Weapon:
This set is shown with Village Meal active rather than default meal as the element resistance stat is important for more element on the weapon. Village meals are nearly always better than normal meals, but for this set in particular it matters slightly more.
Lagiacrus full LP vs Artian full LP Rey 4p comparison (LP, Airborne, and everything standard active, on crits):
Spiral (64MV / 0.8x ele mod) on Uth Duna Torso/Forelegs/Head (50/10, 65/15, and 40/20):
Artian - 188.64 on Torso / 245.24 on Forelegs / 150.92 on Head
Lagia - 174.76 on Torso / 227.19 on Forelegs / 139.81 on Head
Even giving the benefit to Lagia and swapping Artian to a 70 sharpness unit augmentation, Artian wins out slightly even on the most element biased example here (being the head)
Artian 70 Unit - 148.55
Lagia - 139.81
While this is a shallow comparison of only 1 move on 1 monster, it’s also the most important attack that IG has. The conclusions to draw are that generally Artian Weapons are still ahead of the Lagia weapon for the relevant thunder matchups in the game for the most part, since both Uth Duna and Seregios don’t have stellar thunder zones barring the one major exception of Uth Duna’s veil.
Descending Slash may lean slightly more towards Lagiacrus weapon as it is less immensely raw biased as Spiral, though still favors raw.
Uth Duna’s veil hitzones are internally listed (and thus shown on Kiranico or any other datamined source) as 90 for Severing, but you clearly don’t deal that crazy high damage to them. This is because there is a hidden 0.4x physical damage multiplier when hitting them, making the hitzone effectively be 36 for Sever. This despite the fact that the game still treats this 90 hitzone as a proper 90 when determining things like Weakness Exploit/Mind’s Eye activation and the amount of hit-lag upon striking the part.
This all leads to the veil hitzones being a very highly element favored 36/25 for Sever and 24/25 for Blunt, meaning that the Lagia weapon here would actually beat Artian for specifically those contexts, but still fall behind when attacking Uth Duna itself. Artian weapons for Insect Glaive can still work as it will allow more flexibility and more damage output with Spiral on the monster itself. Naturally Lagiacrus Glaive will still work better than other craftable weapons if you are avoiding Artian weapons for any reason.
(The damage multiplier is the same for normal Uth Duna and Tempered/AT Uth Duna)
From running context we can see that the Lagia weapon is being preferred on AT Uth Duna due to the factors mentioned earlier like more sharpness and free Focus. Dropping Thunder Resistance for Water Resistance to give waterblight immunity is an option as well.
Set Adjustments:
- Here is a version that uses AT Uth armor to gain 2 size 1 slots at the cost of 1 level of LP and -7 Thunder Res, leading to -2.8 element.
- This variant can be preferred on AT Uth due to being able to fit Mirewalker 2, or possibly 1 level of Water Resist for Waterblight immunity at the cost of another -8 Thunder Res (-3.2 element)
Outdated/Weak:
These sets are either weak sets that are showcases of things people ask about in order to say why they’re not recommended, or generally outdated sets that are no longer relevant in any way due to other systemic changes in the game or sheer powercreep. Other older sets can still be found as variants under the same set templates in the details tab when they have a tiny bit of relevance.
Burst Boost Full LP:
This is a variant of full LP using Burst Boost because it was buffed in the August 12 patch from 3/10 Attack to 8/18 Attack. It’s still generally weaker than other versions. Alternatively it can use an R7 talisman to drop the Earplugs point and a size 1 slot for 1 more weapon skill point. The default craftable Counter Charm III also works here.

Seregios ADR:
Showcasing a set here with Seregios weapon and Seregios 2p mostly for comparison’s sake, as Artian weapons probably still win for most cases due to flexibility, uptimes, and elements. Seregios weapon loses an immense amount of Attack, the maximum slots, and the entirety of element/status compared to Artian in exchange for very high innate affinity and the unique Bladescale Honing skill.
Bladescale Honing gives IG a small 4 unit barrier of sharpness upon evading an attack, during which your sharpness modifier is increased to 1.4x. White sharpness is usually 1.32x, so this is roughly a 6% total physical damage increase.
This pseudo-sharpness skill must be highly relied upon due to the weapon’s low 30 base units of White sharpness and generally lower output than Artian when it isn’t active. With Bladescale Honing active, this set should jump to roughly 544 EFR which is near the peak of LP sets, though it comes with many other concerns as described (element, uptimes, sharpness, etc.)
This set also highly relies upon Adrenaline Rush uptime which should theoretically be aided by Seregios 2p bonus, granting the skill +15s duration at baseline and another possible +15s once if re-activated while still active. For all of these reasons described earlier, this set isn’t generally recommended for use.

Mizu Weapon Mizu 2p:
Since August 12 patch buffed Mizu 2p into being theoretically usable, people will ask about a set with it and Mizutsune the weapon. The skill is inconsistent and anti-synergistic with commonly used other skills like MM, CS, and LP. Burst is also very inefficient past the 1st point. This set is rough to use and you can simply use Mizu the weapon on any other set as a craftable water pick without needing to rely on Slicked Blade.
This set should generally be avoided. You can also swap 2 Burst levels for 2 Weakness Exploit levels, or run a Burst 1 variant with Gore 2p.

Omega Matchup:
TU3’s Omega (and more specifically its Savage form) is the most significantly unique matchup in the game and will likely stay that way. The matchup demands many different things out of players, and tries to enforce an MMO trinity of “roles” despite them not properly existing in normal efficient MH gameplay and still not being entirely efficient in the way you might expect for this monster.
This guide isn’t going to cover actual fight mechanics and strategies as there are likely many out there for that, but specifically from IG’s point of view the weapon will have a high opportunity cost when attempting to perform anything similar to a “tank” or “support” role. The weapon needs to constantly stay as aggressive as possible for extract gathering and repeated Spiral usages, and has an abundance of unsheathed mobility options. IG is also generally a high damage output weapon comparatively in the game thanks to Spiral (even if it may not have the best matchup on Omega,) and it also has a 0.7 enmity multiplier on the monster.
Anti-Omega Partial LP:
Use any standard kinsect; triple gathering ones like Foebeetle work fine, but you may want faster choices like Whispervesp due to Omega’s high movement.
The powder bonus is still irrelevant.
If you don’t have a usable RNG charm, you’ll just have to drop Critical Eye and use the basic Challenger Charm II, which will also come at the cost of Fire Res or Stun Res. Leviathan’s Fury (Lagia 2p) is shown at 33% uptime. This set is kept as the old Partial LP template from TU2 regardless of AT Nu Udra gear existing since the matchup disfavors Counterstrike and highly values size 1 slots.
You can consider Attack Boost 5 over Mind’s Eye+Critical Eye. The Earplugs skill is unnecessary for Omega, so it is not shown here unlike other sets which force 1 level of it due to IG’s triple up.
Size 2 slots are left open due to Counterstrike being typically disfavored on the matchup. You can still fit Counterstrike 3 in if the uptime is high enough from being hit frequently, though you may consider other options like Evade Window or Partbreaker depending on the circumstances. Counterstrike is still normally a highly efficient and prioritized damage skill.
All size 1 slots can be changed, but many prefer Stun Resistance for the fight. It’s not necessary if you evade well, but these Partial LP sets have an abundance of options. Fire Resistance is another common 1 slot for negating fireblight. Speed Eating is a common general use 1 slot as well. Bind Resistance over Stun Resistance can be considered on Savage Omega due to its singular attack which causes Frostblight. Item Prolonger naturally has value with a very long fight.
Since this is a Thunder matchup, there will also have to be the debate between Artian and Lagiacus weapons again, but given that many prefer to have 1 slots outside of Thunder Resistance for this, Artian will be shown here. Artian should win out on backlegs and head hitzones too. There is no need to worry about bringing a Fire alternate for the Spider DPS check phase, as you can still easily delete it even with a Thunder weapon; glaive is still primarily caring about Raw after all and having to re-gather extracts when swapping weapons is a small hurdle.
Comparison (with CS3) between Artian Thunder as shown earlier (green,) and Lagiacrus (yellow,) showing that they’re extremely similar with Artian slightly winning out and having extra flexibility due to not requiring Thunder Resistance 3. Lagiacrus only gains extra sharpness and Focus 2 in comparison. If you don’t have a usable Thunder Artian Weapon then Lagiacrus is the choice to go for.
TKO’s 14 '58 Solo Savage Omega uses a set similar to this, but with different size 1 slots and dropping Counterstrike levels for other things like Partbreaker. He also uses Focus 3 on Artian Weapons over 1 point of Critical Boost and Critical Eye, which is a possible recommendation. Foebeetle is also used in the run over Whispervesp.
Anti-Omega Non LP:
PietaMH’s 15 ‘24 Solo Savage Omega uses a non-LP Lord’s Soul set rather than a partial LP set. It still uses Whispervesp.
Compared to the previous, this has 2 less size 1 slots and doesn’t fully fit Counterstrike 3, instead opting for 1 level of Partbreaker over what would usually IG’s forced Earplugs level.
All size 1 slots can be changed. Item Prolonger is only shown due to it mirroring the set used in the run. It’s also likely the strongest 1 slot skill for damage (Might Seed/Demon Powder uptime) in this fight due to it being extremely long.

Omega General Sets:
Savage Omega armor’s bonus is entirely exclusive to Multiplayer gameplay. It has a coin flip for everyone with the bonus at the start of the quest, then relies on you being either “Near” or “Far” from allies during a 90 second period before alternating. The conditionals are slightly more lenient than expected with requiring only 1 ally out of a possible 3 being near or far from you to trigger it, but it will still depend on that along with the RNG coin flip starting phase.
AI Support Hunters do count for this bonus as well if you wish to play in a slightly more controlled environment than SoS matchmaking, but keep in mind that they still scale health just like normal hunters too. Palicoes do not count as allies for this bonus.
Generally speaking Omega Resonance sets are marginally stronger than normal ones when properly keeping near permanent uptime on both phases of the conditional skill, but otherwise aren’t too significant and come at other costs. It’s desirable to coin flip the phase that benefits you the most to be the phase with the most uptime. Keeping this bonus up could also mean needing to attack a worse zone on a monster, which would in turn be an even larger loss.
All calculations are shown with perfect 50% uptime on each half of the Omega bonus, meaning the shown stats are 5 Attack / 10 Affinity for the 2p, or 10 Attack / 20 Affinity for the 4p. The actual bonuses are 10 Attack or 20 Affinity, and 20 Attack or 40 Affinity. Naturally you may still slightly lose uptime on some of them during a hunt with appropriate losses to the set’s output.
The OMG kinsect is horrible. It has low power, powder-centric bonuses, and is severing type.

OMEGA NonLP:
A new possibility for an Omega 2p set thanks to AT Nu Udra chest. The set is using a 3,8,5 R8 RNG charm rather than the standard 3,10 which nets the extra group 5 skill like Speed Eating, but otherwise is similar to 3,10 standard ones. It can swap to Attack Boost 5 over Critical Eye 5 if using external Affinity.
If using a craftable talisman you’ll have to use the standard Agitator 2 charm.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
OMEGA Partial LP:
A partial LP set with Omega 2p for 10 Attack / 20 Affinity during the 90s phases.
Possible anti-synergy concerns between Divine Blessing and Latent Power exist here, as LP wants you to take damage and Blessing is reducing damage taken.
If using a crafted talisman, you’ll have to use Counterstrike or others if dropping CS. Naturally this also means fitting Airborne back over the Razor Sharp deco. MT vs RS+Handi still exists here with them being equal at 75% average Affinity for 1 sharpness augment.
It’s also possible to make a full LP set by using Omega helm and Rey coil instead, however it’s generally near identical to this current partial LP set with minor differences in uptime thresholds, and is slightly weaker than the normal full LP set without Omega 2p.
Compared to the non-Omega Partial LP, this uses an R6 RNG charm so it is more common and is able to fit a sharpness management decoration at the cost of losing size 1 slots and relying on the Omega 2p bonus. It also loses more with less Counterstrike uptime as the previous one only fits CS2 without losing an Attack Boost level.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
OMEGA Weapon:
The Omega IG does care for utilizing the 4p Omega bonus due to it making Synergy grant an extra 10% Affinity (15 → 25) along with buffing the duration (45 → 60 seconds.) The additional Burst levels after the 1st point are inefficient and can be swapped to anything else necessary, even 2 slot skills like more Earplugs for strong roar matchups (Gore Magala and Jin Dahaad most likely.)
This weapon is naturally quite weaker than Artian Weapons from a purely isolated damage output perspective, but the point of using the weapon and a set like this is for the exclusive multiplayer benefits that will apply to other players.
Assuming everyone in the hunt relies on and fully benefits from the 25% shared Affinity the effective output of this weapon is likely competitive with Artian Weapons, but otherwise it’s still notably weaker; this sort of buff is difficult to measure accurately. The set still needs to manage Resonances too, and loses a lot if dropping uptime on them.
A solid RNG Charm is highly valuable for this set as like nearly every craftable weapon Omega IG lacks the ability to fit Critical Boost 5 without the extra weapon skills. Mind’s Eye is shown on the charm since Attack Boost has less value at only 3 levels and Mind’s Eye is common for matchups like Gore Magala and can also be used for Omega. This weapon may not want to be used on Omega as it is immune to Fire.
Set Adjustments:
- 5th Piece Alternatives:
- Zoh chest can be used for a nearly identical set that can’t drop a Weakness Exploit level, especially having more value if dropping Counterstrike
- AT Uth Duna legs are also possible here if the matchup highly values the Quick Sheathe and additional size 1 slots, but it will cost another 3 slot level and Evade Window levels.
- AT Nu Udra chest is high value here as well.
- Craftable Talisman:
- If needing to use a craftable talisman here you’ll get the most amount of benefit from using Counterstrike 3 or Maximum Might 3 and swapping back to Zoh Chest B.
- Using the standard Challenger Charm II can still work.
- Solo Play:
- If desiring to use the Omega IG simply as the strongest craftable pick while playing solo, then it can fit into any general template from the previous document tabs well enough even if it might overcap Affinity.

Omega Non LP (Illustrative):
The Omega NonLP section demonstrates a variant with Omega 2p and a 3,8,5 charm tuned for uptime. It highlights differences from Full LP and other variants and is intended to guide players in setups where Omega 2p is a core constraint.
Omega Partial LP (Illustrative):
Shows how a partial LP approach with Omega 2p can function, including uptime considerations and tradeoffs with Blessing and LP.
Omega Weapon (Illustrative):
Discusses the weapon-focused Omega build and multiplayer implications, with notes on synergy and uptime.
SOLUTIONS & NOTE:
- Solo play = flexibility in tool choices; Omega is often best as a craftable option for group play.
- For crafting talismans, consider Counterstrike 3 or Max Might 3 where possible depending on uptime.
G.Arkveld 2p (Outdated):
A weaker reference in the Omega context, shown for historical comparison.
OMEGA General Sets (Continued):
- Omega sets emphasize synergy and resonance management more than raw DPS.
- The 4p Omega bonus provides the strongest ability to influence fights in multiplayer contexts.
- Automating timing and uptime is critical for maximizing Omega benefits in team play.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Omega Weapon (Continued):
- The Omega weapon leverages shared affinity in multiplayer and benefits from team coordination.
- It remains viable for solo play but is generally outperformed by Artian builds in pure DPS terms.
- Charm decisions and slot allocations are central to achieving good uptime in Omega builds.
Gore LP / Gore 2p (Outdated):
- Old reference for LP-heavy approaches; not recommended with current weapon and armor options.
G.Arkveld 2p (Outdated):
- Historical reference for a weaker Arc weapon setup in Omega map contexts.
Omega Final Notes:
- Many Omega builds rely on team synergy and uptime; solo play tends to favor Artian weapons for consistent DPS.
- The Omega 4p set provides unique multiplayer benefits that can exceed Artian in certain scenarios when uptime is near perfect.

Element Overview (Details Tab):
- Element sets (the standard raw sets shown) are likely going to be the strongest option for most matchups, but that is primarily due to most element weapons being strong raw picks themselves while also being similar to each other.
- Artian Weapons in particular have almost 0 opportunity cost for running elements on them, despite still favoring raw Attack with augments and sets. Elemental Artian Weapons can be augmented the same way as raw Artian Weapons for most matchups. More details are in the respective document tab.
- The document’s Element Overview reiterates the balance between raw Attack and Element in Artian weapons, with Element contributing a moderate share of total damage, depending on matchup specifics.
