Introduction
The main aim for this guide is to provide an understanding about the inheritance breeding system and the strategies involved for creating optimal parent Umas for breeding.
This guide is written with the assumption that you already know the basics about the game. If anything is foreign to you, you may not be ready for this guide. Preface : Parent farming is not mandatory for the game, but it significantly enhances your runs. Think of it as an optional roguelike feature. You are the one to decide for yourself how far/deep you want to delve into the parenting mines.

Personal note:
I do not plan to update the guide frequently unless new information surfaces or if there are any errors in the guide. All terms used will be JP server terminology. I personally have no plans to play global and I have no idea what terms are used in global. I guess I could figure it out.
Check out my circle’s recruitment post in the unofficial umacord @ Umaconnect or follow me in game for CM/LOH orientated borrows.
Someone asked if they could send in a token of thanks, so I’ve gotten around to setting up a Ko-fi Page:

Feel free to ask me questions there if you like, or support my Uma Musume Stables. Maybe if I get motivated enough I’ll write other/more in depth stuff.
Shoutout : Do check this cool dude, Rednu out (we aren't affiliated but he's done a great job with converting the guide into a video format!) I only endorse this video and not any other content.
Rednu has made a video condensing most of the information in the guide using Global server’s terminology. Definitely easier than reading this entire document for you illiterates!

Chapter 1: Compatibility & Inheritance effects
Overall Compatibility
◎ Great compatibility (>150 points) 〇 Good compatibility △ Poor compatibility
When starting a run, your parents' overall compatibility score will be displayed.
The overall compatibility is calculated based on all parents/grandparents with your target horse, unfortunately the raw compatibility numbers are hidden in the game and you will need to use external tools to figure out the number if you want to min max it.
https://mee1080.github.io/umaishow/ You can refer to this compatibility table for the base compatibility between each parent. This uses the post compatibility rework values. Global remains on an older schedule, and the values are smaller.
https://gametora.com/umamusume/compatibility Gametora also has a rudimentary base compatibility planner. Switch servers at the top left of the page to view the correct data.
https://xn--gck1f423k.xn--1bvt37a.tools/ U-tools is the go to all in 1 JP resource. The URL looks like this because it's a Japanese url/site. My advice: Due to the 2.0 anniversary compatibility overhaul, I think it is obsolete to plan your compatibility using these planers. Just race every G1 race, 20~ if you do turf only, 26+ with dirt. PS: The effects of compatibility and inheritance genes stop at the grandparent level. There is no hidden mechanic for having a parent Uma Musume with 100 generations behind her.
How can you control these points?
2025 Global Launch players : Scroll below, compatibility currently works differently in JP.
Since the 2.0 Anniversary update, The compatibility system has been revamped: only overlapping G1 races now grant bonus compatibility points. G2/G3 races and special compatibility bonuses from achieving titles (e.g., Triple Crown/Tiara) no longer contribute.
Changes: Base compatibility across the board has been boosted, and G1 races now grant +3 points each.
General Strategy You should always run the maximum number of G1s available to you, as achieving ◎ compatibility is now straightforward
The general rule of thumb is to overlap at least all the turf G1s for a respectable compatibility score. The ideal count is 22-26 with dirt rotation. If you stack enough overlapping races, it is entirely possible to get ◎ compatibility just from just one side of the parentage line. But look below in chapter 2 for the individual compatibility theory. I believe that is the true compatibility theory after all this time of playing and the overall compatibility theory was just an misattributed observed causality. (2025 update) this has now been proven and updated in the bonus chapter.
[For you global players in 2025] JP server currently uses a different compatibility system that was introduced during the 2.0 anniversary, so the above info will only become relevant after the change. If your parent Umas did not do G1 races, they will become highly incompatible after the change.
Original Pre-2.0 anni Compatibility mechanics (Obsolete for JP, if this isn’t clear enough) For every identical race (G1/G2/G3) wins that overlaps in your parent/grandparent lineage, they get a bonus + 1 compatibility point. It’s calculated individually for all the umas for the left side and right side lineages, based on matching race grades (G1, G2, G3).
They also get bonuses for completing triple Crowns sets of races etc. ie. +1 extra point per 3 crown achievement obtained
It is entirely possible that you may build super parents by running and winning the same 63 races for both parents A & B for a bonus of over 150 points to compatibility.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
- Our sub lead Yukino made this in 2021
The list of titles above which give compatibility bonuses is not exhaustive, U-tools has a more comprehensive list @ https://xn--gck1f423k.xn--1bvt37a.tools/announcements/3 Thanks @derpiederp for pointing this out. He's also made a great spreadsheet tool for compatibility planning (Old compatibility system/global only)
Calculating Compatibility
Just taking reference from derpiederp’s sheet for better visualisation. The individual compatibility of each Parent/ GP is calculated based on their compatibility with the other respective Uma (P1->gp1) + respective bonuses, visualised by the + in between each relevant link.
My take is: You don’t really need to know how to calculate any of this, unless you want to know the exact numbers that go into calculating your odds.
Just race the maximum number of overlapping races your deck allows you to and all will be well.

Scenario Recommendations
Here's my thoughts about each individual scenario for parent runs. I’ve used stars to show which scenarios are good for parent farming. Max stars is 5, rated on how easy is it to raise stats, gameplay mechanics and amount of SP.
URA
Nice unique scenario genes but difficult to consistently roll SS grade or above Umas. With the 4th Anniversary update, this scenario now has the auto-run function.
Auto time: 15 minutes Manual time: 20-30 minutes
Launch of Scenario: Expect 1k+ skill points Post rework : Expect around 2k Skill points Rating (Launch): It's the only scenario so what can you do? It becomes obsolete once Aoharu launches. Don’t bother too much here. Just get your own first 3 star blue with URA genes. Ura Genes give Speed (7/10 Good) + Stamina(10/10 Excellent) Rating (After rework): ☆ only if you want the new scenario skill genes. レースの真髄・体 is a top tier gene for every uma
Aoharu / Unity Cup
- Fast with huge race RNG but you won’t be consistently rolling SS grade or above Umas. Max is S+ rank with mega whale cards./ SS only possible post rework.
Launch: Expect around 1-1.5k Skill points Post rework: Expect 2k Skill points or less Launch of Scenario: ☆☆☆ Rating ( After rework but before GM): ☆☆ Rating (2025): ☆ Only if you want the scenario genes, (Aoharu int gene is still relevant and part of nige meta) Scenario gene gives pow & int
Why Aoharu over URA. You get more random hints from bursting the gauges. Your average stat lines are higher than URA, having Riko in your deck gives ~ 150 Stamina/100 Guts for free from her dates, events and end of run bonuses. You hit the rest button way less than URA if you play it right, bring INT cards / burst on Int for energy. Base energy consumption is lower too.
Make a New Track
Runs here take close to over an hour to do, 45 minutes if you are a god. (Cut by 33% faster after the speed QOL is implemented. Originally this QOL was added in GL but Global may get it earlier. Post compatibility rework: the G2/G3 races are useless for compatibility now.. This is a “racist” scenario If the uma cannot run mile races, they cannot play this scenario well. Rip Tamamo and Eishin flash (released just before this scenario)
Launch of Scenario: ☆☆☆☆☆ The perfect scenario for farming the next half of the year. 50-63 bonus race compatibility across the board, free stats. Scenario Gene gives Stamina and Guts. This is the best scenario gene combo and grants mega compatibility until the compatibility rework kills it not long after. God tier Scenario for parenting while it is still relevant. Current Rating: Obsolete
Grand Live
This scenario does not exist.😡
Grand Masters
You get easy access to some good skills like Uma Konomi / ウマ好み from the Goddess card. Expect 3k Skill points
Launch of Scenario: ☆☆☆ Current Rating: Obsolete / No longer worth running.
LARC
- LARC is fast and pretty easy, it also introduces the new mini scenario specific whites on top of the main scenario gene which add individual stats. Mini scenario genes are the only genes that can directly give Skill points. Bonus: This is a shortened scenario so you can complete runs in as fast as 15 minutes.
Launch of Scenario: ☆☆☆☆ Current Rating : ☆☆ ONLY to bridge the compatibility gap for Umas with extremely limited aptitudes such as Short only, mile only, dirt only, see notes below.
Expect about 2.5-3.5k SP depending on deck & luck, this scenario is not suited for weak parent decks. Bring at least 2 speed cards + Mei’s friend card or you WILL lose the scenario races!
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
*Special LARC Notes: Do take note that LARC modifies the aptitudes of all Umas A for turf and mid distance. So this scenario can be used to bridge the compatibility with Umas who can only run dirt or short/mile, such pairing Curren chan with turf / mid parents like Narita brian. However if you want to roll the Turf/Mid Gene at the end of the run, you will still need to tweak the gene to A as the scenario buff is temporary and does not make it eligible for gene generation.
In order for the new scenario whites to have a chance to appear, you will need to have maxed out the relevant debuff level ups during the run.
However , this shortened scenario limits the total races you can do as compared to a regular length scenario. Your compatibility will be significantly limited here compared to the others.
If you want to farm for parents here I would recommend you train your parent lineages from the same scenario, ie. Using LARC’s grandparents to train your LARC parents to overlap the same LARC race rotations, but you will need to defeat Venus & Montjeu in their respective races to unlock the LARC debuff!
2024 Section Foreword:
2024 Scenarios starting from here: The set of these 3 scenarios DO NOT generate the big scenario genes which can possibly give 30/30 stats. They instead generate scenario specific genes, UAF has 3, GFF & Mecha have 5, each for 1 stat. If you inherit at least 3 of these genes mid run, they will grant you a new scenario unique skill. PS: Each of these skills is nothing special and is not worth the trouble to farm for scenario genes specifically for them to appear. This special skill cannot be passed down as a gene. Cygames changed the scenario launch schedule here, scenarios now come out every 4 months instead of 6.
UAF
Initially better than LARC, but the GFF and Mecha scenarios have superseded this scenario.
Launch of Scenario: ☆☆☆☆ Rating (2025): Superseded & obsolete
This Scenario does not have a main Gene. The possible genes are split across 3 unique stat specific mini genes that grants you a unique skill mid run if you proc at least 3 of them across both inheritances. Sadly, the skill isn't worth taking.
Grand Food Festival / Farming scenario
Expect to get up to 4.0 to 5k skill points when running this scenario depending on the deck used. If you prune your skills and exhaust the possible skill hint list early, you can obtain random hints outside of your deck. The new hints that appear will follow the distance & strategy of your uma.
Average runs in GFF take 45 minutes to 1 hour here, longer if your device takes longer to load new scenes/menus. Mandatory card: Director Akikawa Yayoi Initial rating: ☆☆☆☆ Current Rating: Superseded & obsolete
This Scenario does not have a main Gene. The possible genes are split across 5 unique stat specific mini genes that grants you a unique skill mid run if you proc at least 3 of them across both inheritances. Sadly, the skill isn't worth taking.
Mecha Scenario:
Expect slightly lesser SP as compared to GFF but the scenario is MUCH faster as there are less scenario specific menu items to click through. Note: You are unable to generate extra skills outside of your deck in this scenario. Do GFF instead if you want that.
Average time: 30 to 45 minutes Mandatory card: Scenario [Stamina card: Air shakur] or any Biwa hayahide card Initial rating: ☆☆☆☆ Current Rating: Superseded & obsolete

Auto-run function released
Starting from all the scenarios listed below, Auto-runs are enabled and parenting isn’t a chore anymore! It's actually normal to run out of 10 or 15 rentals depending if the ½ tp campaign is running. Another note, if you happen to be a mobile-only player, you can’t use your phone while auto-running.
You can turn on auto clocking for failed races. The June 2025 update gives you the option to turn off clocking for bad aptitude races. Ie dober running for Arima Kinen will not kill your clocks. What's determined as bad aptitude is C and below. C still has a very good chance of winning so turning this on may lead to wasted races.
Twinkle Legends: (Auto enabled)
Added on the 4th Anniversary, this Scenario was the new gold standard for parenting since previous ones are ineligible for auto runs.
Auto makes parenting fun again as you don’t need to guide your uma through a run and get disappointed with the final Gene rolls. Instead, you can just get disappointed after afking for 20 minutes.
Auto parenting runs should only be done on Green or Pink(preferred) route, blue route is only playable with manual input.
Auto time: 20~ minutes give or take Manual time: 30 to 45 minutes Since there's scenario menus to click through.
This scenario is shortened and DOES not have any races beyond Year 3 December, so you will not gain additional race compatibility from overlapping URA races. ( Aug 25 misinfo update URA races are not counted as G1s) Special events for each Umas are also limited, not all of them will function, but some Uma’s quirks still apply.
(Not relevant to parenting) Oonige's condition is to just win against 3 Legends or Almond Eye.
Mandatory card: Scenario Twinkle Legends card, any LB Initial rating: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 7/5
- The more manual input u have for the run the better, full auto final results have a huge range (UG to UD ratings) since it is very stamp & route RNG dependent, this scenario does not have mood up events. Current Rating: Obsolete because Cygames broke the game with DYI scenario with a emergency patch
- Lowered because it is no longer the only auto scenario & does not have URA races for a tiny bit more compatibility. The stats are not spread out and highly dependent on your deck choice.
Twinkle Legends scenario genes give Power & Guts This Scenario does not have any extra scenario specific genes
Design your island: (Auto enabled)
Tim Nook’s counterpart Tucker Bryne is here.
You can set the facility buildings to focus on Parameters or hints in this scenario. Ideally you want Parameters for uma grading (above UE) and Blue gene generation. The skill route buildings are weaker but have lower construction costs. These focus on bonuses for getting hints, but they are rarely used, average for manual runs, horrible for auto runs.
Sample auto run setup (twitter source) Translation: The idea of this setup is to simply to set all training options to "Weak." to try forcing it to use island tickets. Update: Auto-kun is still dumb and this setting doesn't seem to work to force island training tickets.
Average auto run SP 4k 5k depending on how whale your parenting deck is. End grade has a higher floor and is WAY much more stable than doing auto in Twinkle Legends’ For reference, with manual play with strong decks, your SP can end higher at 6k-7k
Auto time: ~30 minutes just from DYI scenario animations Manual time: 25 45 minutes give or take (Possibly faster because u’ll be manually skipping past animations)
DYI Main Scenario genes give Stamina and Int This Scenario does not have any extra scenario specific genes.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Mandatory card: Scenario LB3 SSR Tucker Key note: a minimum of IMPORTANT LB3 SSR Tucker must always be present in the deck for the +1 construction slot.
Initial Rating : ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 8/5 So good that you can lick the plate clean. This scenario broke my rating system and I can't see how this becomes obsolete for parenting in the future. High rating because stats are spread out due to the scenario Island training mechanics. Off-stats can also be raised even if you didn't bring that specific stat card.
Current Rating : ☆☆☆☆☆☆ 6/5 - Still relevant because of deck and race flexibility, just run onsen instead if your deck and races fit it better. I made a mini tutorial for Auto setups for the run> linked here. Deck choices : ☆☆☆ Extremely flexible Other than Tucker, the other 5 cards can be anything. If 5 speed works, anything else works too. Source: wanwan_nyan
(Current scenario but theres a caveat about parenting)
Yukoma Hot springs / Onsen Scenario (Auto
enabled)
It's time to start digging holes
Got the idea of Mr Digger from celery
This scenario kind of hates racing. Preliminary auto testing from the JP community has shown a huge variance (4000-6500+ SP). Your results from auto running are highly dependent on the number of races you run. The more races you run, the worse it becomes. This is highly detrimental for turf + dirt race rotations AND parents that aim for bonus secret genes.
Sample runs linked below from JP players, although most of them are using full fledged decks meant for real training instead of parenting. https://x.com/teioupawa/status/1983410358430884256 6k SP nige deck: https://x.com/alice8544/status/1983574452257608160 6.5ksp: https://x.com/takekozou_nova/status/1983590469318930534 6.6k sp: https://x.com/granphic2014/status/1983746187904864481
JP bro with 7k SP, but I don't think you should do parent runs with decks like this. : https://x.com/kyalumamusume/status/1983506465261498453
Hint Mechanics: Triggering Super Onsen gives you hints from your deck. There are no random hint mechanics like the GFF scenario and you will be unable to generate extra skills outside of your deck. It is also possible to hit the dreaded stats/sp instead of hints from super onsen activations too.
Auto time: ~ 30 to 40 minutes Manual time: 30 to 40 minutes
Onsen Scenario gene gives: Guts and Int / Worst combo so far i think.
Scenario Split ratings: ☆ 0 / 5 If you are using a weak parenting deck & or racing more than G1s (I do this because of hidden factors) High race counts especially beyond 26 will lead to 4k sp and UF-UG ranks. My race presets go into the 30s so DYI fits better for me.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
The runs were done with 28 and 34 races and both ended at UF / 4k~ SP with non-existent hints as you will have difficulty generating hints while running races here.
☆ 9 / 5 If only running G1s, 5 different card types / not-cope deck, minus 1 star for each condition not met.
- Can hit 6-7k SP on auto, for manual runs its possible to peak at 8k. Some JP bros have linked their runs above, you can see if it works for you. DYI VS Onsen scenario I’m not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I don't see how this scenario is good for parenting. This could be my first recommendation to avoid a new scenario for parenting runs. Eyeballing the results from auto-running both scenarios, targeting a minimum of UE rank, both DYI and Onsen scenarios yield comparable results when running approximately 28 races. This performance parity quickly disappears as the race count increases: Onsen scenario will start to fall behind DYI on SP/hints. Above 30 races, the runs will start to break down due to slower digging speeds. While Onsen potentially can generate more Skill Points, it suffers from a significantly lower rate of hint generation from random! hints and hints from super onsen procs. Don’t count on auto-kun to effectively utilise Onsen's mechanics, especially Onsen activations. If your deck contains more than 3 0LB-2LB stuff, runs on DYI may fare better, go test it. Mid-November update: Actually >30 races can also be done. Racing works well on parts of the run where the onsen completion doesn't matter. Ie. The entirety of Junior year since you only need 2 onsens there, but races there don’t add to compatibility, but may trigger some hidden genes.
The setup on the right is the JP community’s agreed upon most optimal priority list. If your run does not complete the legendary onsen, it's going to suffer for hints. You can swap the int/event one from 5 > 4 for +20-30 SP on debut race but auto-kun doesn't always proc the onsen ticket when required.
Deck choice : Extremely inflexible you require 5 different card types for scenario mechanic bonuses for 3 of your supports to
appear in training after digging the onsen. This mechanic is similar to Mecha scenario’s and probably not so relevant if you are racing hard in senior year.
Note : It doesn't matter if you use SSR or R Kiyoko here since Auto-kun doesn't use the onsen mechanics effectively in the first place.
This Scenario does not have any extra scenario specific genes
Ending notes: The G1 classification of races also applies for each scenario’s specific races. * This portion of the guide was written in early 2021 and will need additional verification, U-Tools says Ura finales doesnt count though.
URA/Aoharu/UAF/GFF/Mecha/DYI have shared URA races during the final turns while MANT, LARC, GL & GM, have their own individual scenario races that do not aid compatibility cross scenarios. Take this into account when mixing parents across scenarios! Twinkle Series has no extra races.
11 Sept 2025 update/correction. Woops! Apparently I had used a wrong source back in 2021 when writing this bit and didn’t fact check after that. URA finales do not count for compatibility calculations as these are scenario races and not G1s. source: cygames

This table lists the stats you may get during each phase of the inheritance.
Higher ☆ benefits you in two ways:
1. You have a higher chance of proccing the upper end of the possible ranges, view table above for each range.
2. Increased chances of the gene proccing, higher chance per ☆
3. (outdated : the previous theory was 1 ☆ = 5% / 2☆ = 10% / 3☆ = 15%) a. The chances are ~ halved compared to the main parent if the gene belongs to a grandparent (rough maths, still kind of valid based on how GP compatibility is calculated) The % chance of procs supposedly increases when you get a gold inheritance event, exact effects are unknown, if by some chance you have data, link me. Exact chances : View the bonus chapter below for new data about this.
Stat Uncap Mechanics
( For Global players : This section does not apply to you until the stat cap is raised beyond 1200)
Stat Uncap refers to the increase in maximum stat limits gained by inheriting certain genes.
Stat uncaps are affected by the quality of your blue genes during both the initial and mid-run inheritance stages. In the middle of a run, inheriting a green gene also increases the stat cap based on bonuses from the source Uma Musume. For example, Seiun's "Angling" uncaps Stamina and Intelligence following her Uma’s bonus in Stamina & Int , while Kitasan Black's "Wasshoi" uncaps Speed and Stamina. The precise amount of the stat uncap is currently unknown, but not a significant number (usually single digits).
Update : You can view which stat will be increased by clicking on their Green Genes. Agnes digital’s unique raises speed/stam/power (int is not raised even though she also has bonus there)

Note: This chart illustrates how compatibility affects the inheritance events. However, the initial inheritance of green is an exception and remains unaffected by compatibility.
Special case: The initial green inheritance occurs during the run, just before turn 1, so it is affected by compatibility. Take note that even though this isn't applied before the run starts, the roll is not RNG and the hint grade obtained will always be the same for any run. Ie. you will see the same lowered green hint level for △ compatibilities.

I now have data, check out the bonus chapter at the end for proc rates. The base numbers without compatibility are actually pretty damn low.
A prime example of a "whacky build" is trying to re-engineer Halloween Super Creek to excel in short races. Raising Short Distance aptitude to A or S rank, despite her initial G rating is challenging. This was a popular (but highly unsuccessful) strategy to allow her to run as an ace for a Short CM, or to generate Short Red genes. This is because her unique skill is effective in short races. However, this goal typically necessitates using parents of lower compatibility , such as △ or 〇. Since Umas who even have a chance to pass on short aptitude follow different race rotations and have poor base compatibility with her. As you can see, her G aptitude is a tough wall to climb.
Effects of compatibility on Gene inheritance
(**see update below) There are unconfirmed theories that using high compatibility (overall) parents will influence the quality of a Gene’s proc from the side of the super parent. (Ie. Single circle compatibility vs Double circle compatibility).
Example 1: inheriting a 1☆ white skill may lead to a +3 hint instead of +1 for a double circle compatibility run. Example 2: 3☆ Green unique skill may lead to +1 hint instead of a +3 expected hint on a poor compatibility run.
**2025 Update I believe the above overall theory was just misattributing causality observed from the individual compatibility theory, read below. The poor procs (example 2) is likely from a single low compatibility parent.
Individual compatibility theory
There's some minor empirical concrete evidence that the individual compatibility is how it works instead of the overall compatibility theory. View bonus chapter below for the full breakdown.
Hidden compatibility example:
Parent 1 : ◎ Parent 2: ◯ / \ / \ Gp1.1 ◯ GP1.2 △ GP2.1:◯ Gp2.2: ◯
Even if your initial compatibility rating is excellent (◎), you might encounter significantly lower-than-expected gene proc rates due to poor gene inheritance from Grandparent 1.2 and a reduced proc chance in the entire Parent 2 lineage.
This means that despite a seemingly perfect starting point ◎, the actual outcome of the gene inheritance turn could be negatively impacted by the hidden compatibility factors.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Example 1: Base compatibility numbers are displayed, without overlapping races bonuses.
Fuji Kiseki is the weakest link here as she has poor base compatibility with Kitasan (and most other Mid/long Umas). So her genes would likely have the lowest proc rate among the entire lineage if the overlapping races are low.
Fuji Kiseki also has E aptitude in long distances as compared to the rest in this family tree, and also different mandatory objective races.. This means a mismatch of at least 3 races of compatibility, Kikkasho + Arima + Haruten, if you do not adjust for long distance (which is a new hassle on its own too)
Personal Example 2 (no maths data)
Fuji Kiseki’s genes (shortened)
An example of this was observed when playing approximately 20 runs with the above setup.
Fuji Kiseki had a 3 star green gene which means inheriting her unique skill should provide +3 hints more often than not. However I realised she tended to give me +1-2 hints whenever her green inheritance proc-ed during the 20 ish runs.
Disclaimer: This particular example is empirical evidence so don't read too much into it. Not a concern if you are maxing out compatibility as you should be in the first place.
Gold Inheritance (Lucky proc)
The gold inheritance event has a flat chance of occurring (20%? I forgot where this data was from) and the results will differ for each grade of compatibility (◎ > 〇 > △ ). Gold inheritance _supposedly_ raises the overall % chance of inheriting genes but does not guarantee X amount of inherited genes, meaning it is still possible with horrible luck that you only inherit 6 blue genes and zero white genes during the gold inheritance event.
New data suggests it's only a placebo and it is just an indicator that a 3 star gene procc-ed.
Gene proc rates (without compatibility)
Proc rates are determined by the ★ of the gene & compatibility (◎ > 〇 > △). 3 ★ genes have higher proc rates and should give better quality (hint levels) than 1★ or 2 ★ genes
View the bonus chapter below for how compatibility further affects the chances of procc-ing the respective genes.
Misinformation update : I don’t know why people are saying nonsense like each gene can only proc once in the entire run. You CAN see the same gene proc again in the second inheritance event..
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
For those wondering why my guide doesn’t go in depth into the exact proc rates*, remember that my guide primarily focuses on gene generation. It's important to note that data collection on gene proc rates is often muddled and subject to bias. This stems from concerns regarding data collection reliability and the sheer number of variables involved, compounded by the hidden compatibility numbers, which makes accurate data collection particularly challenging to verify.
Furthermore, readers should be wary of guides from certain individuals who lack a deep understanding of the game, yet present obscure information as definitive insights. Lastly and most importantly , it shouldn’t matter what the proc rate is because you cannot influence it beyond just going for max compatibility, which should already be done.
*12 August 2025 keynote : I’ve just been made aware of very reliable data for gene inheritance rates which has now been collated in the Bonus chapter below.
Chapter 3: Red Gene mechanics
Red Genes
S aptitude can only be obtained from the mid run inheritance and also follows the above chart in terms of points needed, explained below. A -> S is treated as a grade increase.
Grade of gene Aptitude change (beginning of run)
Strength of Inheritance (Halfway through training) ☆ Refer to the chart above Value of inheritance is the same as the ☆ of the gene
Value of inheritance ranges from 1-5 with higher ☆ having better chance of proccing higher values
☆☆
☆☆☆
Extreme factor modification example Where you are trying to raise your uma’s aptitude from G to A/S. Using Agnes Digital below as an example for raising G -> A for long distance.
For the best odds: 1: You will need at least 10* Red genes in long to push her initial inheritance from G to C 2: You will need to proc enough genes to hit A/S within the 2 inheritance turns. For C -> A in 1 go, you’ll need at least 7 hidden points (see hidden red gene value later) In another case, you may also raise C->B on the first inheritance with at least 1 proc, and then during the second inherit, you’d only need 1 point for B->A, at least 4points for S.

What do Red Genes do and why do you want them?
Red genes will raise the aptitude of your Uma in the following respective areas Ground, Turf or Dirt Distance: Short, Mile , Mid , Long Strategy: Nige , Senkou , Sashi , Oiko Runner , Leader , Betweener , Chaser
Your stats are affected by the aptitude that your uma has. Look below for the table of how each aptitude affects the stats
Data sourced from early 2021:
Aptitudes G F E D C B A S Ground 10.00% 30.00% 50.00% 70.00% 80.00% 90.00% 100.00% 105.00% Distance 10.00% 20.00% 40.00% 60.00% 80.00% 90.00% 100.00% 105.00% Strategy 10.00% 20.00% 40.00% 60.00% 75.00% 85.00% 100.00% 110.00%
Most people really care about getting the S aptitudes for distance, but a less known fact is that S strategy helps Nige/Runners much more than the other strategies due to how the INT stat affects the position keep and fighting for the lead mechanics.
The Fight for lead mechanic was only added after 2.0 anniversary? Don’t remember the exact date. Nige umas consume more stamina at the opening leg dependant on guts to fight for the lead.
Oonige just puts speed & stam consumption into overdrive.
Hidden Red Gene values:
Original research , I’ve chanced upon this on 25th January 2022 while attempting to do some 魔改造 (Extreme modification) for the Short Champions meeting at that time. __** _This really only matters when trying to raise extreme aptitudes beginning from G and F._
Red genes have been discovered to also follow the same +1 to +5 value mechanics as the Green/white genes. This means that you may end up rolling the lower end of +1 value even if you proc a 3☆ Red Gene.
Example 1 High Roll : Starting at G > C initially with cumulative 10☆ Red genes on your lineage. During inheritance, it is possible to reach A from C with ONE inheritance of the Red gene if you roll a hidden +4 or 5 value. Since C > A requires at least 4 red gene points
Example 2 High roll : Starting at F > B initially with cumulative 10☆ Red genes on your lineage. This could also allow you to hit S aptitude with only ONE red gene proc Since B > A > S could happen if you roll 4 points and above.
Example 3 Low roll/Standard roll : G > C initially You would normally only hit A aptitude even if two red 3* inheritances were rolled on the same inherit turn.
Unfortunately as the red gene value is hidden, all of this data is from inference rather than actual empirical data and I do not have any statistics.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Chapter 4: Gene generation mechanics & farming strategies for the
different grades of genes
Green genes (Unique skills) Green genes come from the unique skills and will always be generated if the character has been upgraded into at least 3 ☆☆☆ A famitsu magazine interview with the dev team claims that the ult level affects the % chance of the green gene generated.
Red Genes ( Strategy, Ground ability, Distance)
The red gene will be selected among aptitudes the Uma Musume has scored A in ; Dirt/turf, distance and strategy. So if you wish to target certain red genes, you will need to raise the target aptitude to an A grade or above while not raising any unwanted aptitude to A.
Example 1: Mayano Topgun has B grade running strategies in Sashi/Betweener & Oikomi/Chaser, these last 2 aptitudes will never be picked for inheritance unless you raise it to A grade.
Example 2: El condor pasa has B grade in Dirt tracks, and will not generate the Dirt gene unless it has been boosted to A or above.
Fun facts: At the start of the game, the only way to initially obtain dirt genes was to roll a dirt gene on Haru Urara since she was the only girl to have dirt at A and then use her to pass the dirt gene down to another parent
Example of a failed/bad red inheritance
Using Symboli Rudolph as an example, she is generally sought after as a strong stallion for breeding parent for 先行/差し/追込 Leader/betweener/chaser mainly because of her unique skill.
Her unique skill activates if she overtakes 3 other horses during the last leg. However, her unique skill will be useless when paired with Runner / 逃げ horses since they won't be doing any overtaking. Therefore, you would normally not want her to inherit nor pass down the Runner red gene since it is basically useless for her offspring.
But mistakes can happen..
So how did this happen? Symboli Rudolph’s base Runner / 逃げ aptitude is B so it would normally not be generated. My Mayano had a red Nige gene, causing Rudolf's 逃げ aptitude to grow from B -> A & therefore made Rudolph eligible for the gene generation. This happened during the early stages of my account as Mayano was my second 3☆, so I used her in the hopes of making my first 9☆. I succeeded in a 9☆ but ended up with undesirable red genes.
What should you actually do? Given the luxury of choice, do not pair your target girl with parents that may lead to a generation of conflicting strategies. Do not get tricked into pairing conflicting strategies into parenting lineages even if they have the matching red gene ie. 6 Mid gene but unusable white genes.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Bad Example 2. Producing Goldship with Senkou as her red gene because her aptitude was raised to A (unless that's what you want for whatever weird reason)
Why is 先行/Leader bad for her in this specific example? Because Goldship's unique skill only activates when she is in the later 50% of the race, a good chance that this only occurs if you run sashi/oiko 差し/追込. Secondly, the skills available to her are all backrow or Oiko focused. Even if you have many whites, most of them will be useless and unusable when you try to use her for senkou parenting.
The ideal parent strategy Try to pair Uma museums with similar running style and distance together so that there are more common genes in the lineage. This allows you to
1. Have a higher chance of producing a large white pool due to increased generation chances.
2. Have usable inherited ults when using the parent Runner/Nige Example.
Kitasan is being paired with two other runners with useful and overlapping skill genes for bonus gene generation & inheritance chances.
Generating Blue Genes
At the end of each run, 1 stat will be picked among your 5 stats and a roll will be done to determine what ★ you receive. This means that you will have a 1 in 5 or 20% chance of rolling for any individual stat as your generated blue gene.
Next, the game checks under which grade your selected stat is and a 2nd roll is conducted according to the chart below. In order to be able to be eligible to obtain a 3★ blue gene, the selected status must be at least B rank or higher, above 600 stats..

Methods of farming for 3 ★ blue stats By combining all of the the theories above, your adjusted odds of receiving a 3★ are listed in the chart below.
For example, ending your run with the stats listed below will mean you have approximately overall 3% chance of obtaining a 3★ blue stat in either speed or power.
1 SS stat + 1 B stat (10% 20%) + (5% 20%) = (speed) 2% + (power) 1% = 3%
When I first created this guide, Aoharu scenario was the newest scenario. It was previously impossible to get SS in all 5 stats for the maximum chance of 10%, and the average person's odds were around 3-6%.
However with the introduction of the Grand Masters & LARC scenarios and later scenarios, an all SS statline is actually possible now, elaborated more at the end of this chapter.

Basic information about skill genes:
You can only generate a skill gene if you learnt the skill during the run. Even if all 6 of your parents/grandparents have the skill, but you did not pick the skill, it will not be generated / passed down.
You can only generate the basic version of any skill, no Gold version can ever be passed down. However, you should still buy gold skills if you really want to pass down that specific skill, the why will be explained further below.
Take note that unique skills (green) that have been inherited cannot be passed down as a white gene. Unless you are buying it for a very specific reason, to help win races mid run, it ultimately is a waste of skill points during a parent farm run.
Special note: If you inherit a skill during an inheritance event which you have already learnt, that skill's hint will be converted into stats. I have no data as to which stat and what amount will be given in place of the hint but from experience it is usually a small value between 1-9.
Example situation: You have already learnt 良バ場 ○ and receive an inheritance for 良バ 場. Even though you can still learn 良バ場◎, you will be given stats instead of additional hint discounts.
However do take note of another aspect of skill hint mechanics: Example 2: You have already learnt 良バ場 ○,! skill hints or end of race hints will never proc this skill for additional hints. The only way to gain additional hints for it now is to trigger the hint from an unique event or a card event.

Summary of this section
The lowest chance of generating the gene is 20% for the basic version of any skill.
All skills have a flat 5% chance of being a 3★, so it means you have a 95% chance to roll a 1-2 ★. However, you can increase the chance for 2★ and above with higher grades, explained later in the last section of this chapter.
Race genes
Winning G1 races in first place allows you to generate race genes, which provide different bonuses, such as stats, skills, or both. Certain G1 races also grant skill hints when inherited. For example, the Queen Elizabeth Cup race gene grants both stats and the non-400m skill 非根幹距離.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Aoharu update: Aoharu scenario gene is a bit special. The Aoharu Scenario gene can still appear even if you
1. fail your Aoharu races.
2. Fail to complete the final URA portion of the run.
Regarding the number of race factors generated at the end of the run, this is tied to the number of GI races won and mentioned during a magazine interview with the development staff.
But whether they meant the total number of race factors OR if the particular G1 factor only appears if the G1 was run is unknown since Japanese is a very fickle language and could mean either. I’d assume they are just being vague and the race gene generation chances depend purely on luck (data below).
Race gene data
The data below uses Satsuki-sho and Hopeful Stakes as comparisons to see if there are any differences in each race's chance of inheritance.
Source : Aoneko Uma’s data and NottinTV’s explanations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWKhpI3gQk0&ab_channel=NottinTV
The data shows that there is no bias in different G1 races, meaning all races will follow the same gene proc rates. Based on the data above you will have between 20% to 30% to inherit a G1/Race gene per run, with 5% chance for a 3★★★ version
The data above is collected for Arima Kinen race genes
Reminder : To generate a G1 race gene, you must have won the G1 race by coming in First place.
For example, the Arima Kinen gene will never appear if you lost or didn't participate in Arima Kinen even if all 6 of your parents had the gene in their lineage.
Looking at a combination of all the above skill hints & race data, it's safe to say that all race genes, including the scenario genes should follow the same formula.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Scenario genes
Scenario genes are probably the most sought after stat-based race gene, providing the biggest stat boost of any race gene. They are also generated from the race that everyone should have won, improving compatibility.
For example inheriting the URA scenario gene adds a range of [ 10/20/30 & 10/20/30 ] to [ Speed & Stamina ] when proc-ed.
I haven't been able to find any data to confirm the % chances of how the ★ grade affects the stat rolls but the most logical theory is that the higher the ★ the better the chance of it rolling the higher stat ie. 3★★★ URA should have better chance of rolling 30/30 to speed & stamina as compared to 1 ★☆☆URA Edit: Gamewith has data with a sample size of less than 30 samples which is small and doesn't provide a highly accurate investigation into the exact % chances. But it is enough to prove that the gene inheritance follows this ascending chance principle. https://gamewith.jp/uma-musume/article/show/270279
Note: There is a hard cap on the number of scenario genes you can inherit in a run. Scenario Genes are capped at a maximum of THREE per single inheritance turn, even if all your Uma’s lineage has a total of 6 of these genes. I believe Cygames just put a hard cap to balance the stat gains, since the upper cap of proccing all is, 6 x 60 = 360 stats Which is pretty damn insane at the beginning of the game’s launch.
Bonus Scenario Genes
Larc Scenario & later scenarios update LARC scenario has introduced a bunch of new Scenario Genes which are tied to the LARC scenario debuffs. These genes will only be generated if you have maxed out (Level 3) on the respective overseas aptitudes.
The generated gene will also provide stats according to their respective bonuses. For eg. The stamina aptitude will grant stamina if inherited. (The stat gains from these genes are very small in the single digits as compared to the the main Scenario gene)
UAF, GFF & Mecha Scenario also introduce new scenario genes but longer generate the Big scenario genes. These are micro genes that give single digit stat or skill points, and if at least 3 of these skills get inherited mid run, you will get a unique scenario specific skill.
Chance of appearance
Based on the above data. I assume it follows the same appearance rate according to white skill genes since these are not linked to races. With a base chance of 20% to appear and up to a max of 30% if every parent has the same gene.

Uma grading and how it affects genes
Referenced source: https://aoneko-uma.fanbox.cc/posts/4359075
After the introduction of Make a new track scenario in 2022, it had become possible for trainers to train Umas above the SS grade.
It was here where we learnt that there was a hidden mechanic in the gene creation. Completing a run where your end grade is SS or above will increase the star QUALITY of your green/white genes. Blue and Red genes are not affected by this mechanic and the chance of the genes appearing post run do not get boosted.
2023 data Source: https://aoneko-uma.fanbox.cc/posts/3891258 In the above article, Aoneko investigates whether the new rating ceiling of UG/UF/UE has any effect on white genes, and whether going above 1300 for stats affects blue genes. Answer: No , the increased gene quality stops at SS grade for the Uma and SS for stats. 2024 Update https://twitter.com/aoneko_pochi/status/1774676602628301180
Star vs End grade
Zoomed in graph
Aoneko has discovered that ending your grade above UE has additional benefits to white gene generation, namely for 3* Genes.
The gene quality chances be tabled as below

Above UE grade 17.5% 70% 12.5%
Jan 2025 update : Ending the run at UB and above does not increase the rates any further. So UE is the current ceiling for boosted gene quality.

Chapter 5 : Recommended supergene mummy strategy
Combining the above Compatibility & Gene generation theories, Its time to aim for a high compatibility uma with stacked skills.
Two examples are here: (Outdated screenshots from Early 2023) https://imgur.com/a/wfZaafj
2024 Update: I’ve included a small snapshot for one example of what constitutes a strong parent. Order of importance, 3 Red > good skills not found in your training deck > 3 blue
As you can see above this Sirius was created for use in Mid distance & 差し/Betweener in mind. She lost Tennoushou Spring (lower compatibility with others who won it) and other g2 races(Doesn't matter)
When building parents it would be best to follow this strategy of using the same support deck and running the same races as your parents for the following reasons.
1. Same support deck increases the chance of the same skills appearing in your run, allowing reinforcement of the genes generation for up to 70% chance of the gene being generated.
2. Other than compatibility reasons, running the same races further leads to a higher chance of the common G1 genes being generated, allowing reinforcement of the genes, for up to 30% chance of passing it down.
Do note: you MUST win the G1 race or it will not be eligible for gene appearance Reccomendation: Do NOT learn unique skills passed down from inheritance if you do not need it to win races, this is just a waste of skill points since they do not lead to any skill gene generation. (More applicable to Umas pre MANT scenario as SP is extremely limited)
It also helps to save your race preset so that you can consistently run the same races and dont run into a situation where you forget to run races or forget which races u’ve already ran.
When planning your gene farming runs , consider between 2 philosophies, being a jack of all trades or specialising? Will you cast a wide net , aiming for a wide versatile spread of different skills in your uma’s lineage? Or will you double down , committing to the long and arduous grind of finding and reinforcing loops to create a parent with specialised skill focuses and 3-star factors?
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Examples of both philosophies here.

Chapter 6: Red Gene deeper dive
Take a look at the referenced uma musu station website if you wish to see the exact data. https://umamusustation.com/factor/red_factor_analysis.html
Using the data provided by umamusu station, the probability of the red genes are summarised as follows. ● Aptitude must be A rank or higher in order for the gene to be generated. ● Chance of Aptitude to be chosen as the Red Gene is selected at random, the chance is spread equally among aptitudes of A rank or higher ● S rank does not increase the probability of the specific gene appearing.
The gene rarity generated is fixed does not depend on the rank of aptitude chosen as the red factor, meaning S rank doesn't affect ☆ rates ・ 3 star ★★★ appearance rate is 10% ・ 2 star ★★☆ appearance rate is 70% ・ 1 star ★☆☆ appearance rate is 20%.

Ideally you want to reduce the RNG factor for Red Gene selection by training someone with lesser native A stats
Example 1: Using Urara as an example if you are hunting for the Dirt gene, she only has 3 native A aptitudes, Sashi, Dirt and Short distance, as long as you do not raise any additional aptitude to A, you will have a good chance (33%) of generating a dirt red gene.
Example 2 : Using a second example on the other side of the spectrum, Mayano Top Gun has 5 A aptitudes and 2 Bs (sashi/oiko) or (betweener/chaser), carelessly raising these stats can potentially lead to a 7 way probability (17%) of inheriting a random red factor, ending up with a higher chance of an unwanted red gene.
Ideal strategy when farming specifically for red genes.
Start off with a parent that has red genes neutral to your intended uma, ie. same red gene pool as your target daughter so it doesn't raise any additional unwanted B stat to A.
Personal picks for the ideal uma to be used for parents (end of your loop, anything above will be referred as grandparent GP/GGP): (Take in mind this section was created in 2021 during the Aoharu scenario, there are definitely better choices now. This section is extremely outdated)
Miles: Vodka/ Daiwa Scarlet I like their unique skills Mid/Long: Maruzensky (Mid only) The ideal acceleration for a ton of mid tracks. Symboli Rudolf excellent compatibility and arguably the best unique skill to pass down for 先行/leader and further positions Dirt: Smart falcon OR any of the B dirt umas (after you somehow get their dirt to A) Unfortunately Urara has too poor compatibility to be recommended once better options appear
2022 update Accel ult parents are the meta parents for winning races and should be your focus since they are useful everywhere. Classic examples are OG maruzensky, OG Seiun Sky / Dance Seiun Sky, Mejiro Ryan , Mejiro Dober, OG Kitasan Black / Kitasan White
Other potential candidates, Meisho doto, gold city (Risky random ult), Monk El condor Pasa, Bridal Mayano Top Gun

Here is my recommendation on the ideal priority list of Red genes for a parent.
1-2 Ground type genes Turf or Dirt because these are versatile to be used to parent for EVERY uma you train S ground type gives 5% bonus to Power stat. 1-2 Distance type genes These allow you to focus on what distance you want to inherit S Distance type gives 5% bonus to Speed stat. This is always a major deciding factor in winning any champions meeting, especially in longer distance maps where every minor advantage gets rewarded more due to the length of the track.
I would not suggest more than 1 position related gene this is so you don't run into an accident in future parent runs like my Nige gene rudolf, a really bad choice for a parent since 1. if bringing rudolf, it is unlikely that your target character will be using nige strategy or want it to be in the inheritance pool.
Chapter 7: 4th Anniversary new white genes
The 4th Anniversary updates added a bunch of new genes to the gene pool. You can view and access the list of these genes from the in game filter menu here.
Scroll down on the right tab and hit this to filter by genes.
Look at the magnificent new selection of genes to mald over!

Good news! The genes we're discussing, which we'll refer to as Aptitude genes , are incredibly straightforward to acquire and don't pose any significant hurdles.
If your Uma Musume's lineage, parents & grandparents, possess the relevant Red genes , it increases the chance of the associated Aptitude gene appearing in your Uma Musume's gene rolls. These genes activate at the same rates as the other white genes, making it much simpler to aim for S-rank in multiple stats like Distance, Turf, and Strategy simultaneously since you get extra chances to roll for them.
The total number of stars on Red genes within your lineage will boost the appearance rate of these new Aptitude genes. For instance, if you accumulate 12 stars on a particular Red gene, its corresponding Aptitude gene is guaranteed to appear in your rolls. Refer to the table below for more details.

Aptitude factor ★ 12 (1 gene)
338 338 100.00% ±0.00%

397 152 38.29% ±4.78%
Aptitude factor ★ 6 (0 genes)
623 249 39.97% ±3.85%
As you can see, the proc rate only depends on the available ★ in the Umya’s parent lineage. Minimum of 6 ★ at 40% Maximum 12 ★ at 100% Example Mcqueen below, the parents are a mix of 9★ Long (3★x 3) and 9★Mile (3★x 3) Reds, allowing the creation of these 2 underlined genes on the parent.
If you're aiming to maximize your chances for three specific Aptitude genes , a potent strategy involves ensuring the parent contributes six different Red genes. For example, you could focus on two Red genes of 3 stars each for Distance, Turf, and Strategy, effectively utilising all six gene slots on the parent to generate the respective 3 whites.

Hah! Did you think that was it? There’s more! You can also generate Seasonal / Directional / Stat genes.
Source data taken from: https://x.com/foxtail_mofu/status/1897965116483875179 & https://x.com/foxtail_mofu/status/1896041023018844520
Our JP bro has done his own research and summarised his findings on these sets of genes, I’m using his findings word for word translated, so when he says Awakening he just refers to all 3 types of the above genes.
Acquisition Conditions for Stat Genes:
● The new awakening genes for Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wisdom are obtained by "successfully completing 12 or more trainings" of each respective stat. ● Only "successful" Training counts are considered; failed training turns do not contribute. ● Simultaneously acquiring three types of stat genes within 1 training run due to the limited number of turns is difficult, and realistically, aiming for two types is more feasible. Less or none if you are racing heavily. ● In auto-training, focusing on two types of stats makes it easier to obtain the corresponding stat genes.
Victory Conditions:
● To obtain a directional gene (left or right turns) or seasonal (spring, summer, autumn, winter), you need to win at least 6 races that meet the specific condition. ○ Summer white only needs 5 additional races since the Debut race is ran in summer ● This applies regardless of whether the race is a G1, OP, or any other type. ● Total number of wins is irrelevant, it is about the number of wins under each specific condition.
Seasonal Genes:
● Spring, autumn, and winter genes are relatively easy to obtain due to the presence of fixed scenario races. ● The summer factor is more challenging, as it requires careful planning of race schedules. ● To get the summer awakening gene, you need to win 5 summer races outside of the debut race since the debut race is always in summer. This may be difficult to fit into a training schedule.
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
Summer Race Considerations:
● When aiming for the summer factor, consider including OP races in the junior season, as they tend to have lower chances of failure. ● Other summer races include: JDD, Ibis SDx2, Late July through early September junior races, early September Classic/Senior races, and summer training camp races.
Directional Genes:
● If your umnya can run both dirt and turf races, or all distances on turf, you can likely obtain the left and right turn genes by participating in each G1 race once. ● If the horse has limitations, you might need to run additional races.
Key takeaway:
● The key to getting the seasonal and directional awakening genes is to win at least six races that meet the specific conditions. Summer races are the most difficult to obtain.
There’s also random parameter genes that have not been explained or mentioned here. I’m too lazy to update it since it's a huge chunk of information. Some people figured it out

My take about the new genes:
All these stat genes may not exactly be worth focusing your time and effort into getting them as the I suspect the stat gains are single digit gains, similar to the extra genes introduced during LARC scenario.
I’ve changed my mind and I now think these genes are very strong for the low amount of effort needed to get them (auto parent runs)
In Summary : The genes listed above are triggered by specific conditions during a run. They are not inheritable through lineage like standard skill genes, as they are not tied to learnable skills.
Generation & Propagation Conditions:
● These new white genes only appear if certain conditions are met during a run. ● They are not inheritable. ● Having them in the parent lineage does not increase the chance of passing them on.

Chapter 8: I’ve read all this, what do i do now?
Strategic Gene Farming Decisions
Before you even start a training run, plan your setup:
● What is this parent used for? Ie. CM / LOH, GGP, GP, main parent? ● Plan your parent route before starting any training run, identify the Umamusume with the right aptitude mix to generate the desired Red Genes. ○ Eg. Can my uma generate Mid distance red gene? ○ Do I have the parenting pass to lock a gene? Am I going to let RNG decide if I get an unwanted gene? (see end of chapter 6) ● Figure out your rental does it raise the aptitudes you need for your run? Ie. dirt, mile, mid. ○ For example if you want to make a TM opera parent that is racing Dirt, mile, mid , long races. You will need to create your own parent with dirt/mile and rent another that can fulfill these conditions. C grade is usually the bare minimum to win a race with minimal difficulty. Example TMopera on the right, i had to make up for D mile by buying up as many skills as I could. ○ For global players and f2p who have no access to Gene passes. You want to raise dirt and mile for races, but be careful not to accidentally raise unwanted aptitudes to A that will lower your chances during gene rolls.
○ Plan your support card deck to achieve the specific stat roll/skill pool you want for the run. Ie stamina Blue u want stamina cards. U-tools (JP only) also has a great tool for planning your cards.
1. Strategic Gene Prioritisation
Focus on the chance of generating the Red Genes first. These are crucial for upcoming competitive events (Champions Meeting, League of Heroes). For example, targeting for Turf inheritance can enable Smart Falcon to run turf events, or Mid-distance genes can boost Maruzensky's Mid-red proc rate (since she starts off at B Mid).
Prioritisation Order for Red Genes: When farming Red Genes, always prioritise in this order: Distance > Ground Type > Strategy. Making your distance aptitude S is always the most critical for events.
The "S" Distance Advantage: Achieving "S" rank in Distance is vital for competitive monthly race events. Without it, your Umamusume will be at a significant speed disadvantage against nearly every other opponents who had the foresight to prepare "S" Distance umas.
2. Plan your support card deck to push desired stats to the highest possible grade.
The "Chicken and Egg" Problem with Blue Genes: While it's ideal to farm Blue Genes for stats which your deck lacks, this can be challenging if you don't already have strong support cards for those specific stats. I’d figure most players initially aim for 9-star blues as a target for their first parent. This means rolling a 3 star blue and pairing it with a second uma with a 3 star blue, usually from rental Uma or another strong internal parent
Check out my Ko-fi @ https://ko-fi.com/crazyfellow. You can also catch me via discord.
The current favourite blue gene to have for Design Your Island scenario is Guts. For global, it will be Speed/Stamina/Power for a very long time, especially under URA/Aoharu/MANT
3. White Genes (Skills) Support cards: Plan your support cards to acquire relevant skills. Internal parent / Rentals: You want to make parents or use rentals to hunt for skills normally unobtainable in your deck.
4. Compatibility Make sure your parent route has good compatibility with the Uma you wanted to train. Try to pair Classic crown racers with Classic crown, Tiara with Tiara routes. If you need to, use dirt races to bridge the compatibility gap. Alternatively, LARC works as a smooth brained method to bridge the compatibility of short/mile umas with mid/long umas, Dirt & turf since the scenario naturally gives them natural turf + Mid aptitude. However, as the scenario is shortened and the total number of overlapping races is capped out at 16. There is a hardcapped ceiling on the max compatibility. Very low skill points compared to current scenarios.
For global (Pre-affinity rework): prioritise ◎ (Double Circle) Compatibility when pairing Umamusume. Use the in-game compatibility checker, or gametora’s compatibility tool for numbers to plan. To maximise compatibility, plan your parents to run the same overlapping races. Only G1, G2, and G3 races contribute to affinity before the rework; "OP" races do not count.
To summarise the entire thing above Set up a run / Fix your odds -> Spin the wheel -> Keep spinning till you get what you want.
Key Takeaways for New Players:
Parenting is probably an optional choice, you can get by most content with minimally viable parents such as aligned red genes with peepeepoopoo Blue genes + 1 strong borrow.
● Don't need to chase for perfect genes early. "Good enough" is fine for your first batch of internal parents. ● It's up to you how to define “Good enough”. Although personally. I think running a conflicting strategy parent with ZERO usable whites just because she has the red genes is absolutely stupid. ○ You are better off just doing 1 run with a strong rental and accepting whatever gene that comes out than employing a parent with a completely conflicting strategy just solely for the red genes you want.
Borrowing is your best friend. Always use a strong the strongest borrowable parent. If it's not in your follow list, make an effort to find it. https://uma.pure-db.com/#/search (they have a global version too now, https://uma-global.pure-db.com/#/search ) There's no excuse for renting a random junk parent when you only need 5 minutes or less to find a good parent, otherwise you’ll just end up wasting your own time building mediocre crap when instead by borrowing, you will always end up with something that looks half-good but better..
Blue Genes (stats) are great foundations for shoring up weak stats but CM specific white genes are more important now. Look to inherit and generate rare genes like Essence of stamina / レースの真髄・体 which is unobtainable from cards.
Red Genes (aptitudes) are important for specific races. Focus on getting what your main Umamusume needs to run (e.g., Mile, Turf). Personally I think its better to focus on getting your first 3 star red gene + preferably at least 2 Blue gene with the new aptitude genes Global: Prolly better off just getting your first 9 star blue + at least 2 star in Distance on main parent.
PvE content doesn't really require using strong parents, maybe only Master challenges. PvE refers to Stadium(Team Trials) / Legend races / Daily races / Master challenges.

Bonus Chapter: Inheritance chances!
12 August 2025 addition. This is a bonus chapter because this guide was originally meant to only deal with Gene generation rates.
Apparently theres a JP guy Polaris (@BourBon_Polaris) together with しょっぽ (@shoppo_ura) who has been collating data about inheritances for a really long time but went under my radar until recently. Thanks DipstickPinez for sharing the tweet with me. Polaris made a final summary post about the discovered rates recently.
Polarisさん、しょっぽさん、もしこれを見ていたら──相性との関係を証明するために、たった一 人で何千件ものデータポイントをまとめてくれたことに感謝します!
Basically Cygames filed a patent for compatibility back in 2021 (game launch). Shoppo surfaced it here and these 2 lads went to research if it held weight. All of the data tests by Polaris are on his twitter and I won't be linking all of them since it's a whole boatload of data that he went to test using different game scenarios. The data was collected very well with a highly controlled setting so it can be trusted.
Effects of compatibility:
Polaris did a bunch of tests using 0 compatibility Umas & also repeated the tests using Umas with actual compatibility against the inheritance formula in the patent. Source: https://x.com/BourBon_Polaris/status/1819346545810235714
Polaris's tests showed results that were "roughly close" to predictions. Coincidentally he also remarked that the inheritance rate for grandparents is roughly half compared to the parent’s uma. This is just due to how GP compatibility is calculated at a lower weightage as compared to the parent Uma. Source: https://x.com/BourBon_Polaris/status/1846520715794882863
Just a snapshot of his inheritance data.
In conclusion: The effects of compatibility are the same throughout all scenarios and follow the formula below.
Inheritance formula:
base_inheritance_odds_per_type (1 + individual_compatibility_score/ 100) = inheritance_odds_per_type 3 ☆ Green Gene example: 15% (1 + 200/100) -> 15% * (1 + 2) = 45% Reminder: Chapter 1 explains how individual compatibility is calculated.
Base proc rate based on compatibility (Base rates)
Gene type↓ / Base chance→ ☆1 Rate ☆2 Rate ☆3 Rate
Blue Stats 70%^ 80%^ 90% Red Genes & Aptitude whites (遺伝子)
1% 3% 5%
Green (Unique Skill) 5%^ 10%^ 15%
Race 1%^ 2%^ 3% Whites Skills, Scenario , Hidden whites (目覚め& 隠し)
3% 6% 9%
The table is based on his data from 0 compatibility Umas.

He basically also confirmed the individual inheritance theory at the same time while he was collecting data. Based on the formula above. You can see extremely high chances of your genes procc-ing for really high compatibility parents. This means, it's time to convert your parents to be able to run dirt races too if you want to maximise compatibility.
Source: https://x.com/BourBon_Polaris/status/1846520715794882863 He compared his expected values to the actual inheritances he achieved here with a 100 run sample set. This proves that the inheritance rates for compatibility follow the formula for most of the results. Even though some of the results don’t fully match the EV above, it can be chalked up to a small sample size.
Another pic (this time only expected values and not actual data)
Gold event effects
1. There doesn't seem to be a distinction for activation rates between gold and normal inheritance events.
2. He further wrote that he noticed that there was a flat zero occurrence of gold inheritance events when he tested a full 1 star set of parents and suspects that Gold inheritance is just an indication that a 2 or 3☆ procc-ed.
3. This is probably similar to how gacha animations show up as an indicator and not really as an additional bonus chance. Personally - this fits well with my own experience since I’ve not felt anything special in a gold inheritance.
Screenshot below from a friend
Not covered in the guide
1. How compatibility or ☆ affects hint levels. This should just be pure RNG with more ☆ giving better hint levels, stop looking for answers nobody can give!

Final Summary: I don't want to read, just give me the numbers
Blue Genes
Highest chance of getting ★★★ for your target stat after a run (SS or higher stat): (10% 20%) = 2% Lowest chances of getting ★★★ for your target stat after a run (B stat): (5% 20%) = 1%
Blue Gene farm strategy In scenarios before MANT, you will need to use strong support cards, plan for good training bonuses & high Speciality rate/tokui cards in your run with an aim of at least 600 (B) in your target stat. After LARC: Unga bunga lol
Red farm Strategy Equally random chance to be rolled among all your A and above aptitudes, some Uma are worse off in trying to roll your intended gene since they have more A aptitudes. ・ 3 star ★★★ appearance rate is 10% ・ 2 star ★★☆ appearance rate is 70% ・ 1 star ★☆☆ appearance rate is 20%.
Don't raise proficiencies that you do not want to rank A
Green Genes farming strategy The final unique skill level affects the % chance of the green gene generated Raise your uma’s stars for better odds.
Race genes/White skills explained You have between 20% to 30% chance to inherit a G1 race gene per run. (And you must win that particular G1 Race too) White skill chance of inheritance: [20-30% / 40-70%] [White skill/Gold skill]
All white skills have a flat 5% chance of being a 3★, so it means a 95% chance to be 1-2 ★ This % is doubled if your uma’s grade is SS and above, increases further if you end at UE and above.
Race genes/White skills farming strategy Having the same white gene in your parentage increases the chance of receiving the same white gene & you must also learn the respective skill AND win the same race if you want it to appear.
4th Anniversary new White genes The chapter is already as miniaturised as possible, go read it.
Effects of compatibility on parents: For the best compatibility overlap all the races you can, convert to dirt for additional compatibility and/or bridging other rotations. -Dirt rotations are not for you Global gremlins. yet
Final reminder : Readers should be wary of guides from individuals who lack a deep understanding of the game, yet present obscure information as definitive insights.
Conclusion : At the end of the day it's up to you as to how greedy you are for genes, what you wish to target for your ideal breeding parent and what combination of strategies you use in training/picking choices.
It is in your best interest to plan your red genes early before you commit to any farming strategy, otherwise 1 bad red gene can potentially ruin your perfect parent (look at my early Rudolf for example)
"All it takes is one bad day Gene to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That's how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day gene.” -Joker, Batman: The killing joke "
